Hey everyone!

Things have been getting heavy. Gary and I are split on where we see FFXIV headed. Check out the new show! Give us your opinions.

Its about time someone steps up in a podcast to spread the truth of how awesome XIV is. I was sick of the negativity being endorsed by podcast shows from eorzeapedia

I <3 Kenzie but I pretty much stopped watching the show after the episode where gary was running solo and it became a bunch of negativity =/ . At this point, I know just how much people who don't like the game dislike it. And I just really want to focus on discussion from people that are enjoying the game. If you ever fly a solo podcast Kenzor, let us know. I'll be there, cheering you on.

How awesome it is?

I watched the whole **** video, and all I saw was rationalization of why the game is failing...

ex.'s:
*Final fantasy is.. well... FINAL FANTASY!!!!
*The Dev's are too busy fixing things to add more things, their head's have to be in a million places...
*The "Ask the Dev's" are for people that never played a final fantasy game..?? (Seriously how many people bought the CE or even retail on release of FFXIV that have no history with a FF title.??? Seriously?)
*I don't mind the grind.. it's about the journey... the journey is fun for me....
*because of feedback... lulz....
*target the "WoW" people...

This web cam podcast was so one sided it was literally providing comedic entertainment.

The only thing that I agree with "Kenzie" on is the fact that she self admittedly gets lost easily.

I wish I could listen but it is blocked at work. I do agree with the poster who says it would be better for you to do a show with someone who doesn't hate the game though.

If you're talking about Gary hating the game.
He doesn't hate the game he's just frustrated with certain aspects of the game, which a lot of us are, it does not mean that he hates it.
You should see the episode right after Mike B's review of FFXIV came out on the BFF report. Gary totally went fanboi on him.

I actually like gary's point of view on stuff, its almost 100% representative of mine. Seems like he wanted to play the game, likes alot of the features, doesn't like some of them, and overall is kinda underwhelmed and not really feeling it. I have not heard a single thing from him that wasn't fairly logically thought out, and that would constitute as just hating the game.

I am agreeing with a lot of what Gary is saying; I don't think he hates the game at all. Like others have said, it sounds like he is disappointed in the direction the game is taking and WANTS it to get better.

Also, I look at the stack of games behind Gary and I see DAoC, Guild Wars, Warcraft, Starcraft II... I don't actualy see a FFXI or FFXIV box.

I don't know why that bothers me, but it does.

He's got a CE back there, I think on this particular show he might have just been sittin in front of it.

I retract my comment then. I probably didn't see it for the reason you mentioned.

Love you! ;)

Totally! Gary brings up lots of valid points. Definitely not saying I've had no frustration with the game. I think I point that out in the episode, too.

Admittedly, I'm a super optimistic person - but other than this release, has Square really let you down in the past? In my experience, the disappointments have been few a far between. SO that being said, I'm giving them a chance. If they can fix the problems, then that will really give some credit to them for being willing to listen to a community that they'd been distanced from. Additionally, it will re-energize the people that have already invested in the game (like myself).

One week! I'm really pulling for this to work out. It's a GORGEOUS game with a lot of potential that I just - simply put - don't want to see wasted.

I'm sorry but Gary's comments about in-game tutorial really put me off. I hate hate hate hate in game tutorials, and I think a game reviewer that needs one in order to give the game a fair shot shouldn't be a game reviewer.

That said I was one of those people who didn't touch the story quest (except the first installment of the first one) until I reached rank 20. I don't dig hand-holding.

Couldn't agree more with this.

This reminds me of those tutorial from FF-V and FF-VI where earlier in the game you'll find a building with all those crazy sages or moogles gathering together researching things, and when we talk to them they'll explain the in-game mechanic. I found it very helpful on my first play-through, but after that I'll just skip that building entirely.

I think it's nice and they can even do the same for XIV, would be good to include one of this kind of 'crazy sage association' in each starting city as well and make the very first NPC you encounter (Baderon or Momodi for example) tell you to check it out, but not a requirement to progress through story but optional things to do if you need it...

---------------------------------
Also, I believe Gary is not hating the game, I think he just disappointed in what SE has to offer. He is just like many of us who wish to enjoy this game but could not, due to the lack of whatever thing they need to keep them excite, interest and fun.

However, I, myself is more like Kenzie though. Regardless of all those issues this game have, I'm pretty much enjoying the game, and I never run out of things to do. Sometimes even find it difficult to manage time to do all the things I wanted to do in game.
