Rank Up = HP Down?Follow

At r23 I had 1144 HP...Ranked up to 24 and now have 1140! Same gear, same point allocation, same everything. I'm not hugely concerned about 4HP, I'm just wondering where they've gone, as later on it might start taking a bigger chunk.

Anyone got any ideas about this? I'm guessing it's a gear issue but I've been wrong before (repeatedly).

Yeah I had this problem around R15 Gladiator but forgot about it until reading this lol...

I looked through my gear for items that gave HP and tried to figure out what could cause it, but never found out what it could be. Items that gave +hp still gave the amount of hp listed on them when I unequipped and then reequipped them so I was stumped, then forgot about it

Do you have anything that affects your Vitality? IIRC, that affects your HP and perhaps that piece is damaged.

my guess is a gear issue + lag/code issue, kinda like when you have the gear damage icon, even if nothing is damaged on your gear on, but then you do a synthesis or kill a mob, you get the no longer gear damage, and it gets removed.

I think I remember Vitality on gear not affecting your HP at all.

I don't have any ideas myself.

I've noticed this happened to me too for a few times now. I can't quite figure it out too. I had no damaged gears, no HP down effect.

Maybe VIT cap affects if HP goes up or down any a character ranks up?

The idea running around about a month ago, was that when you hit certain levels, the amount of HP per VIT lowers, and sometimes that will cause a small drop when they change the formula.

Thanks for the input...I hadn't even considered diminishing VIT returns. I'll check my gear condition next time I'm on and see if it has any impact.

If I can't find it I guess I can live with 4 fewer HP!

This happen to me as well after the system maintenance last week. Wonder if they are doing slight adjustments.

I never noticed this but I am interested...

What lvl is your gear? Could you be getting further from affective/optimal range of the gear which lowered HP+ on the gear?

Also... this is pure speculation but I "think" I notice less ACC as I increase in levels (on the same mobs) if I don't increase my DEX and/or STR. I am a PUG 18 and read someone talking about DEX being crap so I tried stacking all my points on VIT. When I did that, it seemed like I missed more. I don't know if there is another variable to it (like button mashing due to excitement) but it did seem like a valid assumption at the time. Ultimately, this could have something to do with the optimal level as well. As I pulled further away from optimal gear levels, the computations take that into the equation. Again, this is pure speculation. I just don't see how a level increase could negatively affect my ability to kill. I literally came closer to dieing AFTER I leveled...

I noticed this exact same effect leveling GLD 1-10. I did it all in pretty much the same gear; starter sword, mostly starter clothes, a couple minor upgrades like L5 boots, L4 gloves, a couple rings. I always repaired my gear very shortly after seeing the first damage warning icon show up.

From whenever I started paying attention, ~1-3 up to 10, I saw my HP steadily decrease from ~980 to 700 once I dinged 10, and I similarly saw the damage I was doing per light strike drop from 90-100ish to ~50-60 over the same level range.

I suspect that final "effective" stats are a product of whatever byzantine formulas are coded in to the game to determine how total stat points available from assigned stat points + the product of gear optimal rank & class affinity vs. character rank for any given class.

I guess the idea is that as each stat point counts for less as you rank up, players will be encouraged to upgrade gear appropriate for each class, as well as allocate stat points in a more and more specialized way for each job as they level up.

Spreading everything around until you have 40 points in every stat seems to work well enough if you're leveling tons (or every) job(s) to 10 or the low teens, but I suspect the game has been set up to increasingly gimp this behavior as levels increase, forcing you to stack core stats like STR/VIT for heavy armor classes or MND/INT/PIE for casters.

This also forces you wait through the point reallocation cooldowns to make major job shifts, which is not so fun. :(
