Well if you're running around with hair not normally available to your race they'd probably figure it out. I've decided to err on the side of caution and leave my toon alone.
If you modded the dats it would be on your screen only. People did it in XI and swapped entire character models and their Moogle to summons and all sorts.
To one thing said above (Not to the quoted poster) I wanna point out even if it IS against ToS chances of you being discovered are pretty slim. I recall back in FFXI somebody even told a GM they were using Windower and they did nothing about it. I'm pretty sure the same about DAT mods. I could be wrong about it, but while SE doesn't actually want
you doing this stuff, they aren't going to do much about it when or if you do. At most they may look and tell you you're SOL on getting any technical help. NCSoft has this view with Guild Wars in fact. DAT mods have been around for FFXI for a long time and they're already surfacing for FFXIV. I use one myself in fact for the UI so it's easier to read the chat log.
Anyhow like the quoted says, only you see the mods and same with music ones. The only danger of swapping out mods is unless you do it carefully you can risk ******** up your entire game maybe by making textures invisible or breaking something in the process. Unlike FFXI it's a little harder this time around since there's multiple files and multiple folders within folders and more folders. Overall it's a bigger mess and harder to find what goes where unless you keep tabs. Edited, Nov 21st 2010 4:25am by SamusKnight
