Account Deactivation/Reactivation Guide?Follow

So as some may have seen, I deactivated my account a few days ago, literally just before the announcement for another free month. In light of SE's announcement, I reactivated on the 19th (the cutoff for the free month) so that I could see what the November adjustments would be like first-hand.

Unfortunately, something is awry.

I believe that when I initially deactivated, I canceled FFXIV service through account management, since service and characters are actually paid for separately. i.e., if I just canceled my character, I was afraid I'd still get rung out 9.99 for keeping the service, and I was set up to pay with epay, rather than crysta.

When I reactivated, I put in the code that I registered with the first time. I did not get my character back. I could load the saved data for my character, but I could not choose my original name (it said it was unavailable :/ irritating because I'm really partial to it). I also tried putting in one of the codes for Asuran Armbands, but was told that the code had already been used. I didn't go so far as to create my character, so I don't know if it would have started with Onion Helm, Armbands, and Sandals, but my feeling is that it wouldn't.

So does anyone know how I might go about getting my original character back? And in the future, how should one deactivate/reactivate their account to avoid any issues?

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

You should be able to re-activate your initial "content ID" with that character still there. Thats what happened to me when I had quit initially, I just removed the entire FFXIV service. You shouldn't have to input any codes at all. check under options.

Hm, I did add an option, but I didn't see where I could get my old character back. Anyone know what menu that's under?

Yeah Kachi I did this too, just now actually, and it gave me the option to re-activate.

On the main account site I think FFXIV was still listed as a service, but it was unregistered. On the bottom of that was the option to re-register the service and all that was included in it.

I clicked on that re-register button and that was that. After another screen came up showing my billing preferences, my character's name, server and that it was still under a free trial.

Under that it showed what services/codes I had registered; like my lone character and the Onion Helm.

It sounds like you're activating on top of something you should have re-activated?

I would suggest trying to start from square one but I think you might be stuck in a loop.

The only real advice would be to call SE. :(

Ahh, ok, thanks. Well, I think I might be SOL then, because I'm guessing that reactivating will start the account today, meaning I won't get the free month. Hopefully I don't encounter further problems when trying to reactivate the first account after activating this one.

I'll play with it and share my results.

Oh ok, I see it now. What I have appears like this:

Active Service Accounts
Final Fantasy XIV 2 Options List/ Cancel Service

Cancelled Service Accounts
Final Fantasy XIV 1 Options List/ Reactivate Service

Anyone care to wager a guess on whether I'll be charged for the coming month if I reactivate account 1 and cancel account 2?

Thanks for the help.
