Mobs that auto dieFollow

Ive been going to a specific cave for my various cloth needs, and now suddenly the mob goes grey and dissipates as if it was freshly killed when i go into the cave. Ive sat in the cave waiting for respawns and only get bats, and usually 2 instead of the 3 total that can appear in there.

Now here is the kicker. When i go to the mouth of the cave, then directly back in, i see 1-2 of the vengeful souls show up as grey as if they were freshly killed, and dissapear.

Anyone else see this? or know why it happens?

That is really odd. I've never seen anything like it in my adventures.

There have been a few times now where I'll be running to the ferry from Ul'dah and when I get down to the gorge right before the ferry dock, I'll come across a Dusty Mongrel corpse just sitting there. And if I get close to it...it turns to "face" me. No joke. It's creepy. I caught myself wondering if it isn't some sort of sneaky mechanic like the mob is playing dead until you get close and then it jumps up and chomps your face. Obviously that wasn't the case, otherwise I'd probably have a video compilation on youtube of unsuspecting players getting one-shot by the "dead" Dusty Mongrel. Sad, but funny as ****.

I've had this happen a few times myself, not just one Dusty Mongrel either. I ran past about five of them one time and wondered to myself, "Who is running around sniping all these poor dusty mongrels?"

However I didn't bother to go poke one with a stick to make sure they were deadSmiley: lol

I know in 11 a few times they would add mobs to the game that weren't supposed to go active until after the next update. The one popping to mind now was about a year ago i think, right before WotG came out. In Ghelsba Outpost there was an Orc from the past that would spawn in the present for a few seconds and then disappear (or something very similar to that).

With the update coming tomorrow, and part of that update being that they're going to pretty much double the amount of mobs out there, I'm guessing it has something to do with that. Maybe they've got them in-game but ghost like, to see how they'd hamper the game. If there's a pack of mongrels where you're saying and they're in the middle of that open area, that's going to make that last little bit of the ferry run kinda dangerous. Maybe they're set so that they can 'ghost attack' people and they're seeing how many hits they get and decide to move them?

I've seen random dieing (as in I attack and after one or two hits its dead and no SP/EXP but it should have needed about 20 hits)
But I've not seen random already-dead ones on the ground :P

Dead mobs still have positions. You walk in they come into range but it takes a second for the signal to get to your PC saying "Oh, yeah, they're dead" at which point your PC invokes the [Dead mob fadeout script of doom]. They probably need to adjust the order of operations.

I remember fighting in one of the mines in Uldah; our LS was fighting the Puks there. We went to far one time, and ran into skeletons. There was a particular skeleton that played dead like a pile of bones, and all of a sudden he would pop up and hit one of us, and then immediately drop back to a pile of bones. It even chased us a little bit. Really crazy, but funny.

Stop hacking and exploiting and the game will stop bugging.

Same.

I was running through to Mor Dhona and there were at least 12 Dusty Mongrel "corpses" along the way. Some would move as if they were being dragged along the ground. Scary stuff.

Yeah, ok, sure, if I knew how to hack or exploit the game I'd stop it right away.

Anywho, I've logged outside of the cave to see whats the deal when the update hits. Wondering if that present/past ghost thing was it, I didn't play ff 11 so I'm kinda new to all this. I mostly craft... and weaving sucks, just like leatherworking is about to suck with the rank 22 weapon that has no way to be made.

and they are fine now, almost too fine. i kill one, another respawned behind me, which would be fine... if the tiny cave that had 3 things in it at a time didnt now have 4.

win some lose some.

Yesterday I was doing Leves in Nanawa Mines with some LS mates. I was weakened, and when my weakness wore off, and my hp hit 100% I dropped dead for no reason. We all got a good chuckle out of that.
