Hmmm... I'm Curious (Gil question)Follow

I've decided as of lately to put aside adventuring to spend more time working in the Supply (Mining) and Manufacturing (Alchemy)industry, and I must admit that I'm liking that it hasn't been "difficult" to make money in FFXIV so far EVEN though I'm a pretty casual player.

There was another post in these forums sometime ago where the OP said they had an amount to the tune of 25 million gil, and I got to thinking what kind of gil is "average" for players so far.

I'm not sure if anyone is willing to post what kind of gil they have on hand atm, but I'm curious as to what the community thinks is the average amount of gil players have.

Fiddle Faddle!

Don't know what people who do battlecrafts normally have, but I'm a crafter/gatherer, I try to collect most of my own materials, and I play on a casual schedule. I have about 400k

I hover around 4 million. When I go too much above that, I get into a spending mood.

I earn my gil only through battlecraft leves and by selling junk items to NPC (stuff I don't use for crafting), I'm R23 and I have 2.3 mil. I level my crafts through local leves mostly as well and if I craft out of them, the stuff I craft is usually parts (mats for finished items) which I also sell to NPC. The duplicate items from battlecraft leves (or pieces of gear I don't want to use) I tend to put on my retainer for ridiculously low prices, since my ultimate goal is not to earn gil on them but to free storage space. My biggest expenses so far would be 60k weapon, 75k tools x2 (and those aren't even THAT huge sums of gil at all).

I'd say 25 mil can be average for people who dedicate most of their time to crafting (which is probably a lot more than average time per day spent for most people), seeing as they can easily earn 100k-200k ++, per piece of R21 armour, 60k or so per R12 craft tools etc. (prices may vary, this was more or less average(ish) last time I checked on Palamecia).

i got about 2.5 mill. As of now i see Crystals and shards needed more. A lot of gear is a little high priced only cause their is a selected few that can make high lvl gear. Weapons are not to bad each class has 7-8 weapons only so a weapon will last you a long time.

I'm always some where around 300k to 200k.

I'm a Crafter / Gatherer with a big emphasis on crafting. Most of my expenses go to crystals and shards (since no matter how many I gather as a Miner/Botanist I always need MORE) or items made by leather workers.

My income has started to rise as I've found a certain wood to gather and use as a carpenter, bringing my expenses down to just repairing what ever leather armor I own.

I am a casual player and I usually have somewhere between 100-200k. I do spend more than I should I think so I probably would have more. I level multiple classes so I guess it's the idea of getting good gear for all my classes that makes me poorer compared to the people with 1mil+.

I have 1.4mil currently. Never sold a single shard or crystal.
I'm have multiple crafts classes, multiple DoW classes, and a miner.
None are above 20, most are sitting around R15-16.
I gather/craft most of the stuff I used for crafting myself, expect for some items which may clog up my inventory (like brass rivets, I only need 1, but a single craft gives me 32).
For these items, I would buy.

I have a little under 1 million but I also haven't played for a month.

I only craft through leves, do combat leves and some gathering though not much. I've made most of my money selling crystals.

I seem to bring in more gil than I spend, as my bank keeps growing. I'm around 1,000,000 gil right now.

I've got 6 mil at the moment, and I should have at least 10m by the time the free trial expires next month (if it actually does, this time).

The biggest portion of my income has been leves - it's not a lot; I'm sure DoW/M that have been selling shards/crystals/clusters instead of using them in synthesis would have more.. And of course the extreme crafters that are well ahead of the pack, those putting in 15 hours a day into crafting alone, plenty of them are closer to 100m than 10m.

I usually have from 400k-900k, but I spend a LOT of gil and i focus almost entirely on grinding my crafts instead of making money.

Currently about 500k... but I went on a big spending spree. :P

I was sitting on 1.5 mil and said,
"I'm sitting on a mountain o' cash and I wanna get down!!"
So I did.

Wish I could spend a million in real life so carelessly.

Namas, Frebaut - all these people from my linkshell! :) Didnt even know you guys used ZAM!

Anyways so far I have not really accumulated anything from crafting at all as I have only crafted to rank up. All of my gil so far has been accrued from levequests and I have 3 million on my retainer and I have about 300k on me for my own personal use !

Normally about 330k, highest so far 800k.
But I stretch myself too thin. CON main, with a bit of THAU and MIN/BOT/WEA/ALC/CAR and a few others. I should have specialized.

Since I spent about 1.5K in crystals back at rank 17 to only get one rank from it all I decided to just leve and use crystals I get from DoL/DoW.

Don't really craft to make money, just to get SP so most of my income is from leves and NPC mining mats that I dont keep for armourer.

Currently at 1.4 M

Around 4.1million currently, and almost all of that is from leves.

I do crafting, but I gather/make all the materials myself, never buy teleports, and never buy crystals/shards. I also very rarely sell anything I make. There's been perhaps half a dozen crafted items I've sold, the highest being for 40k.

To date I've bought 2 items from NPCs costing a combined 270k. That's really all I've bought, except for 1k here and there.

I do my own repairs, make my own gear, and gather my own materials. I know I could be making a lot of gil if I were to use my crafts for sales, but what would be the point? There's nothing to spend gil on, and if something does happen to come around that I really want, I'm already sitting on millions.

I hover just over 6 million gil.
Even though I buy shards and crystals like it's going out of style.. it still increases. I play 3-4h / day, a little more on weekends. I don't power craft for sellables (other than when Bronze Haubs hit) - gil just comes easily in this game. I don't understand how there are gil sellers in this game.

My girlfriend, who plays *maybe* 3x a week, has over 600k - and I take all her shards and crystals. :)

I'm just waiting for inflation to kick in - as there isn't anything to spend gil on (other than shards - which get more expensive)

A similar post would be "how many shards do you have?" as it is more of a currency than gil. :)

2.3 million.. Mostly from selling crafted goods...

The amount of inflation in this game is ending up in people's retainers... It's a good thing, IMO as it makes it VERY hard for RMT to be successful when everybody is sitting on 2 million gil...

Despite how rich people are, I'm finding it increasingly difficult to sell items. People might have 2 million gil in the bank, but they're not going to spend 20k on a decorated copper scepter unless they need it.

Further, I feel that a lot of people aren't buying multiple sets of gear simply because they don't have the slots for it.

I've crafted enough decorated copper scepters to equip over 50 players. Same thing with footwear, armwear, and bone horas. When the market starts getting flooded with crafted gear like this, you've got crafters who are willing to sell gear dirt cheap just to free up slots to make better gear.

I use to sell Bone Horas faster than I could make them at 30k gil each.. Now I've got a dozen of 'em I made recently and I can't get rid of 'em, even at 7k. When these are gone, I'm done with bone horas.

I had 2 million when I retired. And about 15 million in crystals/shards, because I horded and could never pass up a good deal.
