i think its pretty funny how they just up and completely threw away their skillpoint system and just replaced it with another standard exp system. like didn't even try to keep any of that game mechanic in there. like, "we are so desperate, we're just going to go with what we know works because if we do anything else we're probably going to @#%^ up the game even worse".
shame they had to figure out the hard way that different and new =/= better.
Whilst I agree with what you are saying, I do not feel that this skill point system was new.
In stead it was more akin with Ultima Online where skill points were totally random and you could go many fights without getting any increase.
This system totally took me back to my first mmo.
I will miss the old system as I honestly liked the randomness of it.
I did not like how it made for ineffective playing, just a shame it couldn;t be tweeked and perfected.
But oh well, I will be happy with this system and so will the community I think, which in honesty is the most important thing.
There really is an incentive for partying now
