Do this:

1. Open up FFXIV and note the patch file that's being downloaded. i.e., today's patch is D2010.11.25.0002.
2. Go to Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV > downloads > ffxiv > 2d2a390f OR 48eca647 > metainfo
4. Open up the .torrent file with the same name as what's being downloaded in step #1, using your favorite torrent client
5. Once that's downloaded, copy and over-write everything you downloaded into Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy XIV/etc
6. Open up FFXIV again and the download meter will have jumped up to about 99%
7. Don't forget to leave your torrent to seed for a while so other people can get it quick too :)

Took me about 5 minutes to download the Nov 25 patch this way.

Hope this helps you guys.

Nvm, I just googled a torrent client. Thanks for the tip. Whether or not this ends up working it's def downloading faster than the ffxiv patcher.

If you're having problems downloading this way, make sure your ports are forwarded correctly to allow torrent downloads and/or your ISP allows torrent downloads. This might also be why some people are having problems using SE's patcher, which is simply a (fairly bad) torrent client.

Once the files are downloaded, it's going to be a folder named 2d2a390f or 48eca647. Copy it over to your FFXIV game folder and overwrite anything that needs overwriting.

Wow at a certain point the download took off and once I retried SE's updater it was instantaneous. Thanks a ton.
