Has anyone found a font that doesn't look excessively small?Follow

I've been tinkering a little with the font changer and so far tried about six fonts at various settings (Fine, Normal, Thick, Thickest) and it seems they all come out about 30-40% smaller and harder to read than the default font.

Has anyone found one yet of an appropriate size and clarity? I'd be really keen to change the horrible looking default one :)

Thanks!

I can't test it myself, but have you tried Calibri? It is in my opinion the smoothest looking font on square pixel devices. It might still be smaller, but in my experience, even at small font sizes, Calibri tends to be very easy to read.

Verdana seems to work well too.

try the set of fonts that are designed for web content (arial, verdana, times, etc), those looks good, also arial bold or arial on thick looks good

About this... Anyone know which web font or font period that supports both English and Japanese characters? I tried using Arial and while it looked nice, I saw nothing but big square boxes regarding the Japanese text. Pitfalls of using a 1440x900 monitor is limited space and the default font SE uses is just too big...

EDIT: Found a solution, Meiryo. It supports Japanese characters and supports some of the smaller things like the male/female signs. And there's two options, Meiryo and Meiryo UI. Standard Meiryo is smaller, but a little blurry. The UI version is a little larger and less blurry. However I think it may be about a tad smaller than the standard font used in FFXIV, nice if you want something different. Not sure which I'll use but I like'em so far...

It seems this occurs because the UI is not scaling

The higher your rez, the smaller the font will appear for anyone curious
