Major Lag after UpdateFollow

#1 Nov 26 2010 at 3:37 AM Rating: Decent
Am I the only one that is having SERIOUS lag issues tonight after update? I've been playing for a couple of weeks now, but tonight I logged in and updated fine. Go into play and I can't even move around lag is so bad. I have been playing fine for past couple of weeks. I was just wondering if I was the only one. I have changed routers and such to see if it's on my end, but DDO plays fine others are fine just on FFXIV. Comments please.

Check your graphic setting in the ffxivconfig. They changed the default setting and reset my setting to the new default as well.

Tried that. :/ I was on maxxed settings before. I turned them down to see if that was it but no go. :(

You might just try reinstalling. It's a pain, but you may have some corrupted .dat files somewhere.

Whelp. I did get a jump in machine lag (not TOO great though) because they seemed to have optimized the game more so you definitely want to adjust settings again, like turning down draw distance.

Since I couldn't reply to the OP in the other thread, due to it being locked...

I don't see any addressing this issue. Since update I have MAJOR lag. To the point of I can't even play. I was on maxxed out settings before update. Since update I have turned them all the way down and still have major lag and the game looks worse than FFXI. I don't understand. I log onto DDO and it runs fine. I have switched routers. Everything on my end is fine. Brand new 2.1GHZ Triple Core Proc.; Radeon 5250 card. Maxxed out before update = 0 lag.. After update graphics on as low as they can go and can't even hardly move on screen??? I played FFXI for 6yrs. I was really getting into this as well. But if I can't even play with crappy graphics... making me lean towards cancelling before my free trial runs out. Sadly. ; ;

Unless that 5250 was a typo, that would certainly explain the lag. Anything less than N5NN series would mean that it's probably integrated video, and anything under N7NN series is subpar for the game.

Anything under N6NN isn't even a gaming class card, they're for HD blu-ray and that's it.

It does seem pretty clear to me that a lot of the work has shifted to client-side.. As it *should* be.

The game does seem a little more choppy for me, but that's because I'm running two copies of Folding@Home GPU client on my graphics cards in the background while playing the game at (1920x1080, max graphics settings and 8XCSAA with double-buffering) all at the same time.

I am an idiot. :p Thank you to all that replied. I forgot during update I unplugged my laptop. It reconfig'd itself to power save mode. ; ; I wasn't thinking. Set it back to performance, and running fine now.
