Has the patch fixed it for you?Follow

I was wondering what people felt about the patch. While I do feel it has fixed a lot of big issues I also find myself hitting spacebar to open the chatbar and second questioning everything before opening menus or such as I'm used to the game before patch.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the changes, I just feel its gonna take a good time before I get used to it and that there's not much content to assure I'll stick around long enough for that.

It does seem SE is on the way to reverse things upon PS3's release though.

This game has too many flaws, even with the December patch it is not enough. Other than the endless problems there is also 0 content and 0 fun combat system, for me at least. Its going to take SE alot of work to make it playable(fun).
I haven`t log in for a long time and still do not want to.
Check out "Rift Planes of Telara" seems a much better game.

Funny how we get used to games like that. I'm doing the same about the spacebar with the new keyboard option. If I remember right I had to do that in XI also so that'll be a hard habit to break. Despite knowing my TNL numbers are already in front of me, after a bit of grinding I find myself opening the menu to check my tnlSmiley: laugh Still gettin' used to some of the other small changes as well...old habits.

As for the patch doing it for me, too soon to tell. In a sense it's like launch day again. I'm doing a little bit of everything and enjoying it all more now. Did some fighting, some crafting & gathering, now back to fighting on other classes. We'll see when some of that new feeling goes away again. But I've been playing all along so far, this patch only made it better for the most part. Biggest concern, which has been expressed in numerous threads already, is the odd SP amounts we're currently getting. Very little benefit to taking on a red mob over a green or blue.(Lots of angry/confused people on that issue)

I feel like this is the "fix everything that was broken" update and DEC will be an "add some content" update. If there was more to do I would be sticking around for sure.

Crafting is still broken (I get locked into an endless fail mode where the durability decreases and progresses are the same for every attempt no matter what I do.) The combat system is still very very clunky (fix it so I can move while using abilities for games sake!) The Anima system needs to be even lower. There are no other modes of transportation... There a lot more things they need to fix. I am going to continue playing though. The game is better then any other MMO I play so why leave for one of those? Square-Enix seems to be wanting to make this game playable, so I will ride this bumpy roller coaster with them.

One last note, they really really need to promote more party play. When I mean promote they need to show, tell, plan, etc... whatever to get people not familiar with JRPGs to group up. Right now its all meh, most people just want to solo or duo. Not only that, now the Japanese player base have an even easier time segregating from non-Japanese counterparts. I would like to enjoy knowing other players like I did in FFXI. In the 3-4 months I've been playing this game I've met a total of like 5 people from grouping. lol

Square-Enix should keep it up. They are on the right track. But it will take more then a 4 wheel drive to get out of the snow drift their in.

The patch didn't fix the game, but it did make it alot better. There's a bunch of things they added but were once again implemented in a horrible way, but rather than complain about it, I'm just going to be happy with what we get at this point appreciate the effort. At least they're trying.

No. Leves are still the basis of content besides a few sparse quests.

Actually it worse for me as I play on TV through my PC. Didn't have any issues before patch with the screen displayin right while in windowed mode, now it is cutting off the experience bar on bottom of screen so I can't see that (and that seems to be the only way to see it now??) AND the text has all been shrunk in size considerably. Sitting at the excat same distance I did pre patch I have to squint to see the tiny text.

You can click & drag that experience bar to where it works better for you. Moved mine to the top...

You can move almost all of the UI widgets.

The patch has me sold so far, they implemented a lot of ground work to build off of. FFXIV may not be a majestic skyscraper just yet, but now at least it has a stable foundation. I wouldn't have stuck around much longer without F-key party member targeting, CTRL commands, targeting issues and the like.

There are some glitches still, but this is leaps and bounds from where they were.

Oh yeah: you can play a Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, and Mage, like WoW... and the art around the website looks like WoW's... it has two, warring factions just like WoW... a world split into two parts just like WoW... a user-interface just like WoW... skill trees that look like they're copy/pasted from WoW... ****, even the font above your character's head is the same as WoW's!

I'll pass.

This game is amazing, I hate seeing people ***** and moan about lack of content. Unless you have Rank 50 don't complain about a lack of content. Every MMO within the first 6 months has relatively no content til it if patched, fixed, and polished. There will be a lot of content coming out when the ps3 comes out and with them saying the game is 100% finished we may possibly see an earlier than March release, even though I'm not banking my money on that. I find with the time I play, at least 20-25 hours a week if not more and have not run out of things to do. Until you are max level anything you cannot moan about lack of content. I do agree to the fact there is a lack of end game content but at least on my server there is only a handful of lvl 50 players.

What bugs me is the fact that people expected different than what S-E promised. It has been stated that these two patches (November and December) are focused on restoring player trust and going towards stress-free gameplay. They have to fix their mistakes first before getting ahead.

I'd rather have them deliver the fixes and not add any new content in the game first, than getting new content that's thrown on top of a bad interface and clunky mechanics. I find it to be legitimate if players are quitting due to a broken laggy interface which makes the game literally virtually unplayable. It's a whole different story if people just complain over the fact that S-E is spending their time fixing their mistakes rather than adding new content.

Give them time, the new content is coming in January like they've stated.

I feel this patch fixed a lot of bugs and things that should have been in the game from the start. As for the patch, the only thing I hate is the breaking of zones into small sections for processing. So having the great view distance sucks now since people do not show from that far away.

As for what will bring back more and keep people is the adding of content. I feel people are not asking for super long storyline, just maybe a few like 3 small quest chain or something like that. Also maybe quests you do once to get a big item or mat for crafting or something.

Personally, I love the game and this update help make it even better. Now to get the servers to be filled so I can find people willing to group up for leves.

Where have they stated January? By all statements so far, the "first update of 2011" will be in March.

Anyway, the new patch was nice. I logged in, loved the new UI response and improvements made. So I filled up with leves, did two, and then just froze after turning in the second one as the wave of tediousness/boredom hit, and I logged out.

I just can't handle the only content being leves. So I guess I'm just going to put FFXIV on the back burner and check it out again after March and see if it's more "fun" (a subjective term, I realize) for me.

I was really hoping to see sub-targeting fixed for heals/buffs, so that one can scroll through the party list with the dpad up/down as they can during normal targeting, really would make the lives of healers hundreds of times easier, something I miss from FFXI. I imagine they'll have this taken care of by PS3 launch, when the majority of the users will be using their controller (I hope.) Otherwise, a good patch.

I equated Early 2011 with January, so the terms became synonymous. My mistake.

Wait, where did they say January? The normal Ver Update progression is the same as FFXI from what they've said. (I.E. every 3 months) This lines up perfectly with the PS3 release, and would be in March.

I think the patch made the game infinitely more playable, but I am still not finding the game enjoyable. I am not sure if it is the lack of content, or if I just can't get over the poor launch. For me I think it's going to take a lot more than increasing performance and functionality to make me want to play. I might check back at PS3 launch.
