So, is this game already unfriendly for new playersFollow

I decided to reactivate my FF14 account today, to see how some of these bazaar changes have helped things. And while i noticed it is easier to find items in general, I noticed almost no one is selling lower level items. Everything I find seems to be lv 30+, which doesn't help my wee little lv6 character any.

Its partly because that stuff doesn't sell as well / fast as higher level items and that stuff sells lower than higher level items, and since crafters aren't getting exp anymore from crafting those items they don't bother. I guess the only thing to do is keep looking (someone probabl is selling it somewhere), make your own stuff, or ask a higher level to make it with a gil reward thats worth their time. OR wait for an influx of new players (PS3 release) and then those people will be making low level stuff and selling it.

Yup, I'll just add that a lot people(not all) seem to go the looks > stats route and buy higher level gear for their low rank classes anyway. Making the demand even lower for that stuff. With a limited number of slots to sell items, you can easily see why many would pass on putting up hempen gear with less demand and lower price over some nice velveteen stuff.

Yeah, guess I will just have to buy gear outside my level range, doesn't seem to me too large of a penalty.

Everyone is selling everything. If you look around, you will find low level gear. It does take more effort than it should, but that's the game right now.

I do suggest you try your hand at crafting. You don't have to be very high to try crafting yourself some gear appropriate for your level/rank.

For low level gear find yourself a well established Linkshell. There will likely be quite a few members willing to trade shards for the gear you want built

I'm not sure if you've heard about it yet, but there are unofficial Ah websites that list character and retainer bazaars. It's called yellow gremlin. It helps immensely when looking for a specific item. It's how I found my toadskin shoes. I'd never seen them available before until then.

I can't sell anything anymore even when I am undercutting every other blacksmith on my server by a large margin and new players are having an easier time tbh since all the high end gear are so **** cheap. Back a few months ago only 1 person could make anything meaning that the premium was just insane. Now everyone and their uncles are making everything, and people at the top rank are dumping their gear dropping the price even further.

If anything starting fresh has gotten alot easier, easier to find gear and less SP needed to rank up from 11-31 helps immensely.

if you aren't interested in crafting, gather the materials and find a crafter who is capable (and trustworthy enough) to trade the items to. Zams got the recipie lists ^.~

I dont understand, why so many ppl ask question in such a negative way? Is this the new standard of the new generation?

LOL! Well now, if players are determined enough to create a non-official auction house of their own, why is Square-Enix still so adamant about doing without something that's now so basic to MMORPGs?

Thanks for recommending the website. If it takes off, it'd really be a Twelvesend for FFXIV. :p

This is yet another example of the "retarded" design elements SE implemented in this game.

I'm not gonna list them all, save one.

WTF is the AH?

Apart from being a "standard" and "basic" element of any DECENT MMO, an AH would solve so many problems. With an AH there would be less lag, and a lot less AFK bazaars. Hmm, maybe that's why there is no AH. All them AFK bazaars make the servers look populated. There would be items of all level ranges in the AH, as crafters could see what the supply and demand currently are (if you don't understand that, I ain't explainin it to ya). Prices would be stable, and as far as RMTs go, WTF are they gonna sell shards crystals ?

XI had an AH yet there were at least 2 popular AH sites, one being FFXIAH.com or whatever... I'm just saying

You have to take the situation into your own hands...Go to the recipe website here:

http://ffxiv.zam.com/en/recipelist.html?class=33&page=1

Write down the ingredients you need for the tool / weapon / armor you want

Then go to either of these bazaar search engines:

http://ffxiv.yg.com/bazaar
OR
http://www.ffxivpro.com/bazaar

Buy the necessary ingredients.

After that, Go to guild needed to create your equipment...if it needs a blacksmith or Armorer, go to Limsa's Blacksmith Guild, if it's carpentry or leather, go to Gridania....etc. Most people are happy to help out (Especially if you give them shards/crystals as payment)

You get the picture. I have done this many times to get equipment made that I'm not high enough to create myself. It always helps me to write down the ingredients on paper so it's handy.

I think it is also true that you don't really need new gear at level 6. You can probably get to level 10 easily without getting any gear except the starter weapons.

Not to stray too far off-topic but I don't feel this is in anyway negative. He had a question and presented it.
