Physical level and skill level gapFollow

I was just wondering what y'all thought should be the prefered gap between physical and skill levels. I thought for soloing that the preferred gap be at least a 5 level gap (I.e. Physical level 25 and gladiator level 20).

But with the new update it seems that SE has made it easier for us to get skill points while at the same time decreasing the amount of skill points needed to attain the next level. Thus is it even plausible to have a 5 level gap anymore. It would seem that if you concentrate on one job you will eventually have a job that is a higher level than your physical.

Just wondering what yal thought about that. I know it forces us to not concentrate on one class, but some of us like to get one class up first to cap, then go back and spread the wealth amongst other classes.

Concentrate on 2 classes at the least and you should be fine, personally I'd rather have a bigger gap than I currently do.

Even before they changed it, if you only concentrated on one class it would end up surpassing your physical level.

Why should i try to keep my physical and rank within 5 levels for each other? As far as i can tell having a conjurer rank 25 and a physical rank of 35 will give me more stats to allocate, which will make me stronger. The only downside is that i do not obtain high experience when killing mobs appropriate to my conjurer rank. However this is to be expected, after all I am killing mobs of lower level than my physical.

If i am wrong in my assumption, please can someone explain why this is so. I have heard of keeping your rank 5 levels close to your physical, but i have not seen any evidence of this.

keeping them close does absolutely nothing extra for you

the higher your physical, the better, period since you have more stats to work with

No matter what you do your physical will stay the same with a rank 1 class. Don't worry about it too much.

The problem is it's too easy to get levels now. I leveled a lancer from 1-10 in under 30mins.

Seriously, my physical level is nearly 43 now (thanks to a lot of crafting and Botany rank 31)...

When I play ANY combat class, I feel like pure power stomping mobs because my applicable stats are capped. Granted, this effect will go away once I hit physical 50 and my combat classes start rising to ranks where their stats aren't capped anymore (and I need to worry more about specializing or setting stat traits or reallocating) but in the meantime I get to just enjoy the ride.

Physical level 50 on a combat class below rank 20 is pretty crazy. My rank 19 gladiator is probably so far beyond the VIT cap for his rank that I could afford to take points out and dump them into caster stats so I can be a melee mage, but I don't see that happening. There's no penalty for having a physical level way above your class rank, and if your class rank is above your physical level you probably want to take some time out and rank up some sub-classes, especially now that XP earned is based on class rank vs. mob rank instead of physical level vs. mob rank like it was before the patch.

You don't have to worry, they have increased the Physical EXP per kill by twice or even thrice the amount with the patch. I've seen some 300 EXP per kill solo on orange mob, which pre-patch would be pathetically 40 or so EXP because of my high Physical Level.

Pay little to no attention to your Physical rank. It has no real meaning and little effect on your character. Your effective stats are governed by your class rank. Try placing 100 VIT into a class under rank 20 and you'll see what I mean. SE should have just phased out Physical rank entirely. If SE wanted to control stats, they should have done just that, and gave a specified amount of stats per rank per class.
