Hey there,

Decided to give FFXIV a go since i really liked FFXI,
so i ran the Benchmark with my Current setup and the scores were

High: 2500
Low : 3800

On a Benchmark thread i hear people talking about 4000+ HIGH setting scores
and it makes me kinda unsure if im OK with the scores im having.

I wont be playing High HIGH, since im usually playing on a 1680 resolution
for example, and if im able to run the game medium-high im already

(For who wants to know: i7 @ 2.80 and a Gtx480 1gb, 6 gb ram)

Thanks in advance!!

Will be absolutely fine. Esp at 1680x1050

I have a 6 core AMD and a GTX460 1gb and I've never run the benchmark but I run at 1920x1200 and have everything on high, its very smooth. I don't use depth of field or amb. occ. but everything else is maxed. You should be good to go!

With the latest patch systems that once failed the benchmark can now run the game fairly fast with the draw detail turned down.

Just an FYI.

If you're looking for a server and a linkshell let me know. I'm on Cornelia in the Divine Order linkshell, and would be happy to help you out. You can also be in multiple linkshells, so if you find another one that interests you before we run into each other, no worries, it won't affect you being in both. My character's name is Dirk Saedar, and I hang around Limsa Lominsa usually. I am willing to level up a low level class if you want to group as well.

I also have a 6 core AMD, and am running a GTX 465. I run with everything on high except for shadows. I also use Depth of field (i like the effect), and the game runs pretty **** smooth at 1680X1050 for me. One thing you might want to do is force on vertical sync in you nvdia settings.

Edit: I use 4MSAA setting. I havent tried to max that out yet.

With your system, 3800 on low looks a little low to me, but I'm sure the game will run just fine for you. I have an AMD phenom II x4 965, 8GB of ram and HD5870, my benchmark is 4700 on low...forgot about the score on high. I have everything on MAX except AAx4, no DoF and amb. Windowed mode @ 1920x1080.

Hmm strange..

I put the game on 1280 because i didn't feel the game was smooth at all at 1680..

The cutscenes played really bad on 1680 and the walking felt laggy.

If anyone has a tip to run the game more smooth, Dont hold back. heheh!

This one time at FFXIV camp I tried to get a 3 person party going, but just ended up as a Disciple of the Hand.

That actually seems kinda low for a GTX480. I mean it's plenty to run it fine, but it seems low for that card. Must be a CPU bottleneck. You'll probably see a pretty big increase if you overclock that i7.
