oh.. what's this? I have a recently upgraded computer that I don't use because I don't feel like playing FFXIV right now in its aimless state.

I guess I'll use it for WoW, until they polish FFXIV enough, if ever.

I'm in it for the long haul unless SE really screws the game up

They already did that, it was released that way and the "fixes" came to late to keep at least me interested in this or any of their future products.
Life is to short to waste by being nice to everyone all the time. Have fun, **** a few people off, it's good for your blood pressure and peace of mind.

Yet you are still here.

Somehow I am not convinced.
We really want to compete against World of Warcraft and for example the new Star Wars MMO.

Resubscribed to WoW in the last few says, saw that the game completly revamped right before Cata released. Decided it was a wasted 15$. I am happy I didn't purchase Cata yet, that would have been a huge loss of money.

I'm the opposite. I figured if I was going to play a solo grinder it might as well be the one with more content.

The only reason I came to FFXIV was for compelling group play while I leveled and with the party SP nerf, there is none.

Adios FFXIV, until party play versus red mobs is back i'll be living in Azeroth while Eorzea takes a back seat.

This is my reaction to your post:

Now really are you serious ? watch world of roguecraft episode 1, a rogue with no gear, lvl 1 daggers, and just a tabard, could own anybody, with or w/o pvp gear, thats not skill that's a broken class period. And epic gear back then was FU OP! PVP gear was released, if you where a raider, and did BG's you would melt face period. Being able to stunlock somebody back to back with no dimishing returns was not skill it was a broken mechanic any way you see it, just as much as warlocks fear, wich had no DR back then either, thats not skill, thats a mechanic thats broken :)

Again, your problems with reading comprehension are AMAZING!

You're seriously citing World of Roguecraft AFTER I said this:

They were OP up to 1.5, and then they became balanced.

World of Roguecraft was PRE-1.5, where Rogues could 2-shot anyone with a lv1 dagger. I already mentioned this. You're an idiot.

Im enjoying FFXIV so will stick with it but the day that I stop having fun, I will leave. I am not going to waste hours of my life on something that I dont enjoy.

I would not play WoW again though. I really enjoyed WoW as light relief after FFXI but with each expansion it is taken further and further away from the sort of game I like to play.

I am really crying out for a challenging PVE MMO with an excellent community. WoW got so much right origally but now the community is an issue for me (as an older player). Aion got a lot right for me but had too much of a PVP focus. I need to read around some of the other future releases

And the barren chat.... well for those who play it or played it.. enough said about barren

You know people say that but I always found it infinitely amusing, lol. It was entertainment (at the middle school level) at its best.

Anyway, back on topic: As much as I planned to have FFXIV suck away my soul for the next couple of years, it instead spit it back out in a matter of a week upon launch. So in my frustration I will be going back to WOW.

I wasn't even following cataclysms progression (development) until just about a month ago. I seriously had no plans on playing anything but FFXIV into the foreseeable future. Anyway, long story short, after looking into cata and how much new stuff they're adding (not just top end raids but almost completely redone leveling system from 1-60) I've decided to go back.

I'm sure I'll get bored of it soon at which point i'll pick up SW:TOR. After that fizzles out FFXIV may have had enough development time to warrant a return (I really hope FFXIV makes it through these next few months; it's going to be tough for SE to convince PS3 users to climb onboard).

This, this, a thousand times this. I'll be looking at FFXIV again around PS3 release to see if the complete games is finally there, but until then I have been enjoying WoW again and can't wait to play the new zones and content. This last patch (The Shattering) opened up so much interesting content and redesigned the old world so much that it's a blast, and it was just a patch that you didn't have to pay extra for.

I'm just really sour for spending all that money on the SE of FFXIV and getting such an unfinished product. I was warned, but I thought the naysayers were just hating. I was wrong. I'm still keeping an eye on this game, but it is also the reason I looked into WoW again after a long absence. They have to prove to me that the game is worth trying again, just like WoW did.
