Hey all!

So i purchased FFXIV yesterday, and i must say i've only played about a hour,
and this was just for figuring everything about etc.

Buut: My first Impression about the game is very positive! I like the way they
put the first bits together. And the cutscenes are fun to watch.

**Just a small thing i noticed, i switched back to 1280x800 to run the game
all smooth instead of 1680 - But im experiencing a kind of .. Glitchyness
when i turn the camera (Right mouse). Its not as smooth as it should be,
Same for when im just moving, and in the middle of the screen i see
some ______________________ lines, im not sure what its called, artifacts/glitches?

I was wondering if this is because of my Hardware/software, or if this is on SE's

Odd, what video card are you using? Maybe a certain card has some trouble with the game? It's worth a google. And also if there's artifacting involved you might want to check how hot the cards getting to make sure it's not a cooling problem.

Thanks alot for the offer Zhinse! But i already got a offer at Cornelia with the guild: Divine Order - So i'll probably head there when im home.

It's nice to have people at the community caring for the Rookies! haha

I have a GTX480 card, a card lots of people use as far as i know in FFXIV, and V-Sync ... hmmm, haven't seen that option yet. Maybe a GFX card option. ill check it out when i get home.

Go into your settings and turn off Ambient Occlusion. All of your problems will go away :)

I hear your pain about the graphic issue.

The wife and I have the same PC...both with 5770's. Since beta, we have both had the graphic line/band that goes across the screen. It comes and goes...some areas are worse than others, always the middle or bottom of screen. Happens when running or panning left and right. Overall, on pretty decent settings, the game runs great for both of us. I have tried every combo of settings that I could think of...including of course v-sync on and off.

Nothing has I have pretty much given up.

I don't think I'm if anyone has a solution to this...please chime in. Its not a V-sync.

Hey Simool,

That's EXACTLY what i am experiencing! the Lines Horizontally when running and then
turning left or right!

Im gonna try V-sync though, since it did help for some others i came across.

Still sucks ... did you also try to update Direct X? Maybe we are running a lower version. dunno...... gonna check it out tonight. BOO!

Typical VSync problem.

Possible answers :
- VSync force-disabled by driver. Check driver options. Note that VSync force-disable is rarely the defaut, so if you didn't touch anything beforehand you should be ok.
- Refresh rate doesn't match monitor frequency. CRTs do not have this problem.
- Dual-screen setup, make sure you are using primary monitor for FFXIV.
- Most of the time, DVI connection is better than VGA, but I don't know if it has an influence in this case.
