Lower Level Gladiator Weapon NeededFollow

I'm having a lot of trouble finding a weapon in this game. I'm a level 12 (rank 12) Gladiator who is still using the weathered Gladius. I have rank 5 blacksmithing skills, but I'm not at a high enough level to create the parts needed for the most simple of swords. Not only that, but you earn crap gil from your early levequests, so I don't have the $500,000 required to buy anything.

What are you supposed to do in this case? You can't just buy the ingredients. My weapon is broken, and I can't even complete my quests.

You can buy a Bronze Dagger from a NPC in Gridania and Limsa for ~23,000 gil:

Ignore the name of the website. There are maps that show you how to go from Limsa to Ul'dah or Gridania to Ul'dah. Just follow the maps in reverse and you're there :) Don't forget to tag the Aetherite crystals on your say to save time later, and in case you die you'll return to the last crystal you touched.

EDIT: That works too. (Above post)

I can't believe I've been sitting on this ferry forever for a sword.

You need to go to the other cities eventually, get the crystal and check out the leves.

You could /shout or check the battleward for a very cheap bronze dagger..

I sell them for a lousy 9,000k. If you can't make 9k for one, then weapons aren't your only problem here.

Oh gosh, do you never stop b*tching?

I'm sorry you can't make new weapons by level 5 (I bet that took forever to reach, right?), and I'm sorry that people gave you multiple guides to solve that problem. Furthermore, I'm sorry that you have to go to a different zone to get the item, and I'm also sorry that you have to sit on a ferry in the process.

Maybe you should make a livejournal for all of this suffering since, at this point, you're basically a Christ figure for all the anguish and ill-treatment you've been through, right?

That's not a very good way to introduce yourself to the community, even if it was somewhat warranted.

Ehhh...market wards?

Repair NPC for the one you've got in the meantime? It'll cost you a whopping 200 gil or so to repair your weathered gladius to 75%, but I'm sure you can figure out how to come up with such a lofty sum.

Paying 23k for one from an NPC is a mistake. Battlecraft Ward. Go the Blacksmith guild in LL and poke around crafter bazaars.

Do note that FFXIV is a rather slow paced game compared to many other MMOs. Taking 30 mins just getting from LL to ULD is nothing. Low level daggers are real cheap these days. You just need to take some time to search through the wards.

Bronze Daggers are like 5k to 9k on my server. By R19 you can get a Brass Dagger for 15k-25k.

The main problem though, is to repair these daggers Bronze Daggers are easy, Brass ones you need GLD to repair.
They break super fast...

I don't know about you, but I don't see many low level weapons for sale anymore. It seems as if most crafters have gotten higher, and are making only the higher level crafts now. It's just another aftereffect of the wear any armor at any level I wish they hadn't implemented. Don't get me wrong, some people still do sell them, but it would probably be faster to level all your crafts needed to make it than to spend the time looking through bazaars until you manage to find one. Don't even get me started on trying to sort through the mess of stupid people in the battlecraft wards.

you can make your own dagger at blacksmith 5...

Last I checked the BS NPC sells the blade... and the grip and a different NPC in Limsa sells the glue. All you need to buy is a brass nugget. Just shout and offer 1K or something:

Of course all of these things would be cheaper from a player - but if you're **** bent on buying a dagger from an NPC you might as well save a few K by putting it together yourself

Dude, go to YG's FFXIV web site. Click on Bazaar link. Input your server and check to find sellers by ward in Ul'dah. I was selling bronze daggers a month ago for $8k. You can buy a used (but repaired) one for cheaper I'd bet. This is an easy fix for you.
