I heard rumors of this so i decided to test it out with my lancer. Killed a few green dodo's around camp horizon and was getting about 150 each kill. After I hit 20 and was getting about 80 or so on average almost 1/2 the SP i was getting before. I find it very odd that as soon as you hit level 20 the game now takes more than 2x as long to level. I'm cool with pushing people to 20 but i strongly disagree with sharp EXP spikes. As a control i also tested out 18 on the same dodo's and was getting about 165 a kill.

I can't help but get the feeling something fishy is going on. I wonder if SE is annoyed that people hit 50 already especially considering that they have yet to pay a dime on subscription fee's...

Anyway just wanted to make sure people knew, and i'd appreciate more people confirming this so that everyone knows exactly what's going on.

I'm also curious if this bugs anyone else, personally if this doesn't get address i'm gonna be a little upset. I don't think the MMO portion of the game should begin at level 20, I'd like to be eased into the process of maybe in ffxi's case give me some consistency when it comes to level's per hour.

I wonder if a similar phenomena happens between 29-30 or any other levels for that matter, I hope SE isn't pulling any tricks it would really go against their whole "honesty" thing.

That has nothing to do with what i'm talking about. I'm not talking about party sp gains.

This sub-defaulting crap everytime you disagree with someone is very childish. The game has enough problems as is without you fanbois/girls making things seem worse with your censorship crap.

Think about it. And next time STFU.

Unfortunately this appears to be true.

We did some testing last night within my LS switching from higher level classes to lower and back and once you get over 20 it just seems to arbitrarily cut the SP drastically.

Oh well, get ready for the sad, lonely, boring solo/duo grind as the party system isn't offering much at this point either.

You do realize this has quite the opposite effect, don't you?

I'm afraid I don't follow? You mean as in I should be grouping?

From our experiments with grouping in my LS it seems to lower the SP even with the bonus. A duo/trio seems the way to go now on weak mobs in high concentrations.

And of course, Leves are pretty great for SP with GF.

@Ken

what level were you with your lancer when you first started to kill mobs to test this around there

because from what i have seen every level you advance youll get less and less exp, cuz after all, thats just natural.

perhaps, you just need to find mobs 2-3 more levels higher, instead of staying at the same camp which will give you less every level

It's pretty much confirmed that SP gains are cut by roughly half when you hit rank 20. I experienced the same thing over the weekend with CON, THM, and GLA. From rank to rank you get 5-10% less SP per mob up to 19, and then when you hit 20 it drops by about 50%. It's not generic player rank vs. mob rank scaling, it's a definite cut that kicks in at rank 20.

For what it's worth, I think the cut in SP at 20 existed before, as well. Originally I ground to THM21, and 20-21 was an absolute nightmare. Now just find 1 or 2 buddies and team up for quick kills.

I've found it does that every 5 ranks. Every time I rank up the same mob will give around 10sp less as it did before but at 10, 15, 20 (the only ones i've collected data for) there is a much larger drop and then goes down slowly again.

This was known early on and started making forum rounds around the game's 2nd or 3rd week. See this thread from Mid October for example. The 20 nerf is in no way related to the new SP system and was at least a 50% cut (if not more) to SP per proc in the old system. I can only assume this was in place to effectively force partying. With the huge PT SP bonus in the old system, no one really cared and it didn't gain a lot of traction as an issue. Now that SP is static and partying sucks, it's probably going to get noticed a lot more often.
