Last night, above Camp Tranquil on the ledge...out popped a Miterling. He was hiding in the bushes I suppose. He jumped someone doing the ol' find the Imp leve...so I grabbed him not knowing what the heck he was. Well...he was a Black n white spider...with the red eyes(same as the Diremite Scorps I have seen by Camp Horizon). The coolest mob I have seen so far. Anyways...he conned yellow and I took him down with my R19 Archer. Other stood around and watched...not sure anyone had seen one of them before.

And I was too excited I forgot to take a picture. Anyone else see one of these?

Possibly the highlight of my time playing 14. The unknown becoming known...that's the stuff I love.

Anyone else have a moment lately that has swung you from just playing...to getting sucked in?

Never seen this mob before, but I also rarely level around Gridania. Sounds exciting though!

Nah, no need for that. Positive threads are fewer and farther between around here than they could be and they're always welcome.

I love the new diremite enemiess, but they sometimes get in the way when completing leves. Though it is nice to see that SE is adding more enemies without an expansion or a content update. Those red glowing eyes are so evil looking too.

I'd rather them mute/ban Cornyboob. What else does this moron have to do to get silenced?

I have one of these "I'm glad I stuck with it" moments every time they add more things in these updates. The last one was awesome for me, and the next one will be just as great.

What in the **** are you even talking about? This like has nothing at all to do with the topic.

OP: I wish you had gotten a pic of that mob. I guess he didn't drop anything interesting? Do you remember anything about the name of it? One of the things I loved about FFXI was the use of names from different cultures' mythology.

I ran into one of these Mitelings last night while doing a leve in Grid. I was running to my next target when I see on my battle log a ranged damage from one of these Mitelings. I'm so used to random adds I just kept running and eventually lost it. I wish I had turned around and gotten a good look at it now ;-p

I've killed a couple by Camp Horizon, on one of those land bridges while I was on a leve.

There are also some by Nophica's Wells.

They are kind of cool, but it makes me want to see more new mobs.

As Pikko and Kao have put it: "We don't ban stupid."

If you head south of Camp Drybone (Uldah) there is another camp; Camp Broken Water. They are about as abundant as colbyns around Black brush.

This camp is crawling with them... we went as a lvl 23-28 pt and did a SP Grind fest on them. The ones with no tail we did really good on. Good SP .. moderately fast kills. The higher lvl ones have full tail (scorpion style) and are much harder to kill.

noteworthy drops are the diremite web: 2x web and 2 lightning crystal = Dew thread.

It was called a Miterling. If you have seen the Diremites down in the pits around Horizon...the Miterling looks like the Diremite(Scorpion) except smaller and its a spider. First impression was a fluffy black and white spider with a ton of red eyes.

Looks like the common theme here is they are popping out on leves but are not actually part of the leve. The one I killed did a B-line at the leve battle but I was able to grab it. Looks like SE wanted to spice up leves a bit I guess.

Yeah, killed a miteling too when I was doing a leve near camp Tranquil after the patch in November. It dropped a Desert-yellow Scale Bugs, made a post for it cause nothing yet dropped this item.

My "I'm glad I stuck with it moment" is everytime my linkshell members and I group up to share leves and most people have them and we do them for a good amount of time. I like the grouping for a goal aspect when it works out, and it's fun getting to know my members. The update in December I feel will continue to enhance the want or need or whatever you want to call it for grouping together and getting goals accomplished as a team. Here's to teamwork!!

I finally met a friend that showed me around the market wards after we teamed up for a lvl. 10 levequest. I felt really noobish and somehow that made me smile.
So I guess having those moments again is making me stick around.

I'm not sure if this counts but the other day I was doing a levequest on my, I think at the time was Rank 17 Pugilist. 5 star levequest around Gridania, the one with the Chigoe and Monkey? Anyway, while doing the levequest, I was fighting my two targets, got linked by 2 bees, 1 Spriggan and a Miteling that I had no idea could even pop in the area I was in. I didn't die, I handled it all like a champ (but barely)

It made me feel really great about the way I was progressing in the game. A great feeling to have handled such a difficult situation :)

My "I'm glad I stuck with it moment" was yesterday. For about a month of looking at all these archers walking around using rank 1 arrows I decided I needed to start providing arrows to the masses. I would need to rank up Carpenter so that became my new goal= rank up and make arrows.

Two days ago after finally making the arrows and putting them up in my bazaar...nothing sold. That sort of put a frown on my face.

But yesterday, I set up my retainer in the battle ward and filled him full of bronze arrows. I added some throwing axes since I made a few just for kicks. I check not but 10 minutes latter and they all sold! it made me oh so happy knowing people are out there killing monsters with arrows and axes I made! launching them with (hopefully) deadly accuracy!

It gave me a new goal too, rank up Black Smith and Carpenter more to make better arrows, axes, javelins, and any type of ranged weapon.

Nope didn't have that moment. Can't even force myself to play through a free trial. I'd rather watch paint dry.

why bother trolling a forum to a game you no longer play?

My moment to share was yesterday, when my gf and I were going through the usual routine of grinding through our regional leves. The last one happened to be a particularly boring leve which happened to have a decent reward attached to it. Since it was late already we were debating if we should just wait until the next day to finish it. Well, we decided to tough it out. Luckily there was another person at the camp looking to team up for some leves, and I figured it would be faster to finish the leve with more ppl so I agreed to invite him to our party. For the next 2 hours we found ourselves traveling with our new party-mate and (eventually) a bunch of his ls friends, going from camp to camp knocking off level 30 leves, fighting everything and anything that stood in our way (a few times leading to death to the chorus of laughter and "lol noob moments") and before I knew it we were up 15k sp. When we finally decided to call it a night, we were graciously welcomed to a new ls (with a surprisingly large proportion of nocturnal gamers lol).. and left with a handful of new friends.

Because when your life is so empty and cold that trolling is your primary emotional release you need the flames to stay warm.

My moment was at Bloodshore. Someone was shouting for a repair to their Brass Spear. Checking their bazaar I saw the spear, 2 brass rings, a brass choker, a dodoskin harness, dodoskin bracers, a cotton scarf and a bronze labrys in need of repair. I told them to stand still and fixed everything for them. They were so excited to get all their repairs knocked out in one shot it made me smile.

My "glad I stuck with it" moment was after the recent patch. While all the other casters had stopped grinding and were complaining about the inconsistency of SP, I kept grinding. Now that SP is balanced but infinitely less, I'm glad I stuck with it. God knows how long it would have taken me to rank up with the current system.

As for the diremites, I was actually disappointed when I saw them. Someone else had mentioned they were in game, and called it a "scorpion". So I automatically assumed it would look something like the scorps in FFXI, which were one of the best looking mobs in the game. The Diremites weren't as impressive. If you want to see a really awesome looking mob, head to Mor Dhona and check out the Headrip Ogre. You'll be glad you did. Best mob in the game, hands down.

that ogre with fire feet? the same mob people posted pics of constantly during beta, the seemingly only really impressive mob that makes mor dhona interesting in any way?

Gosh, even after returning to the forums, im slapped in the face with memories of beta. And your post just made it sound like the game's in the exact same place :(
