I was doing crafting leves the other day and for some reason I just suddenly thought to myself..

"How on earth does my character pull a huge anvil out of nowhere.. Not to mention a big fat stove for cooking and stuff.."

It hit me.. since we are never allowed to take off our undergarments except when changing them, we probably have undergarments of extradimensional portals where we keep all of our stuff. Thank goodness inv is not like Diablo II where you have to sort them according to the slots given.

Now if only I could stuff my car in my underwear in RL.. I'd never have to worry about parking again..

Where do you keep your stuff? ;)

From Urban Dictionary:

Hammerspace: The infinite amount of space within something in which items are stored. Inventories in video games are a prime example, as the character is somehow able to hold a metric ******* of stuff without any sign of even a bag on him. (Anime origins - Check Urban Dictionary for more info ^_^)

I wonder more about how I can hold 99 lengths of lumber, but can't hold stacks of leather circles bigger than 12.

I didn't carry anything at all. Its all in the head.

MIND over MATTER I actually only did the sawing by action, by the sawing action I created a Hypnotic Field around me, causing everyone to think I'm sawing. Same goes with mining and fighting.

All I need to do is wave my imaginary tool or weapon and everyone will believe me.

I remember in games like Tales of Symphonia you can carry around vehicles like boats in your pocket. Their excuse in the game is that you have some sort of magic pocket item that compresses the item to some super tiny object and then poof out comes a boat.

They tried but... yeah.

You see, that's why I chose invisible moogles, with invisibility wands. That works much better!

No no no, I have various wrappings and bags that the Lalafell army use to wrap my items. They're greenish-tan, so they blend in perfectly with the surroundings. Know how I know it works? Have you seen a floating chocobotail saw? There, it works.

Building on the hammerspace term, I believe the actual name came from those animes where the girl would suddenly pull a huge hammer out of her purse to pound whoever met their wrath, hence how the name came to be, the alternate space where they kept their hammer. This term then came to refer to any case where a tiny bag is able to hold more than a warehouse full of stuff.

Though I can kinda get an alternate dimension to hold infinite stuff, I gotta wonder... how do they manage to find exactly what they want when they want it? I mean, if it was reality, they'd try to reach for a potion and bring up five different swords, an adult toy, some books, and some lint before they found it. :s

For my female character, the whole Baggin'-Saggin'-Barry-esque underwear hammerspace theory works out just fine. Unfortunately for my male character, his extradimensional underwear portal is barely enough to contain the cargo he was blessed with naturally, so he has to rely on a personal supply of lalafell servants to follow him around with all his supplies.

I say it follows cartoon logic. You know, reach behind your back and somehow what you want magically appears. FFXI sort of explained it I think with Gobbie bags. Anyway cartoon logic works! Ever notice in FFXI how your character reaches to an invisible spot behind their back and suddenly uses an item? Other than that... It must be because we store everything up our bums! Ever notice how most games don't have toilets?
