Behest: A new way to groupFollow

I know we're all dissapointed with group SP bonuses. I feel the same way. However, I would like to take a little time to talk about Behest, as I have found that it is a VERY viable way to gain SP, at least up to r28 (where I'm at now).

I spent the afternoon doing leves, and stuff around the house. But I would always come back and try to be around for Behest, because I wanted to see how it worked. Well, the results were pretty fantastic.

I focused on the r30 Behests, but I believe the SP should be pretty good anywhere. The best thing about Behests is that you CAN do them solo if no one is around, or if there are a LOT of people, you can all group up and still recieve excellent SP rewards. I'll break down a few of my Behests just so you can see what I'm talking about:

1. Cedarwood: I duo'd this Behest w/ an r18 thm that was just there for healing support. There were 15 mobs that we fought, each one netting us about 100-150sp and taking about 20-30s to kill each. We had no deaths, and by the end of it had gained about 2.5k SP and 6k gil in about 10 mins.

2. Cassiopeia #1: I soloed this Behest. There were 7 elementals that I fought, each one giving me 180-200sp. The "boss" mobs were Efts, and I was quickly massacred so I didn't get to see gil rewards. If Efts pop, DO NOT SOLO THEM! =P Regardless, I still made almost 1.5k sp in about 5-10 mins.

3. Cassiopeia #2: There were 3 of us this time, and 16 elementals + boss mobs. Each elemental netted about 120-140sp, bosses 150+. We beat it in about 5 mins and netted roughly 2.5k sp and 6k gil, along w/ 2 clusters each.

4. Cassiopeia #3: There were 7 of us in the group this time. We fought 31 regular mobs and 2 bosses. The whole behest again took only about 5 mins, and each mob gave 110-120sp and bosses 140. We gained about 4k sp and 6k gil in 5 mins.

Now, I haven't tested this with any larger size group, but so far it seems like the larger the group, the MORE sp you gain in the same timeframe. Kills were happening super fast and it basically felt like a modified merit pt from ffxi. It was a lot of fun, no one died, and we made some good SP off of it.

TL;DR: Behest is not only fun, but very rewarding and larger groups seem to benefit MORE due to more mobs spawning but time to complete remaining roughly the same. Hope this helps people. Happy hunting!

I've only done a few so it's still rather new to me. Of the ones I did, none of them repeated, but I can see how doing it every hour could get old if there are only 2-3 different ones per camp. Regardless, the SP gains seem to be quite good for very little time investment.

It's definitely great SP.

You go out and kill stuff. How is anything not repetitive. You go out and get items. you go kill stuff. You chop lumber. You walk around. Gosh, people just love using low level insults due to a lack of any concrete issue with the game.

Behest is really good sp. With a full 15 person party there are about 45 monsters. The most I have seen is 54. They give about 100sp a piece with the current SP system, so a good group can get 4-5k sp in about 15 minutes every hour. You will hit fatigue easily if you do it all day XD

I can concur - even at R31 this is good SP.

It's about 2k in a small group (less than 6).
and upwards of about 5-6k in a full group of 12-15.

For only 10-15 minutes of work this is very nice. I'd recommend it.
I just got my LS addicted to it.

I like behests and always try to /shout to get more people in on it because I find it fun killing more mobs with more people. My shouts usually don't net a bunch of people though. :( I do agree that they give good exp so if you haven't tried it yet you should give it a shot!

Something change since the update I used to do Lv 20 behest solo all the time ,now there's always someone else popping up to do them 24/7.

The update changed the way the NPCs popped for Behest. Before, the NPC would pop every hour but only people who knew about it actually talked to him/her and participated. Post-update, the NPC actually says "come sign up here" which probably explains why it's gotten more popular since the update.

Personally, I think Behest is a great way to grind, I get an hour's worth of SP in 15 minutes and I can spend the other 45 minutes of the hour catching up on schoolwork or doing other things.

My friend who does these tells me they get boring because you simply zerg mobs over and over, repeating 10 second fights that involve no strategy.
Of course, the entire game's like this, not just behests.

Mainly because it's an alternative to grinding. Having a strategy for every mundane thing would make things too complicated.

However, I do see your point. The game needs more content that involves strategy, and I think that's what the NMs next patch are supposed to hint at.

At least, that's what I'm hoping they hint at.

Something that happens every hour... well it may be repetitive, but I've found myself stopping what I'm doing within 10 minutes of Behest and attempting to form PTs... so it's not thaaaat boring and repetitive...

Aha the annoying talking they do is new. It was fun while it lasted. No since in trying it in a group if there's no level cap.Smiley: frown

Join it, start forming a group of people with the paper icon near the warden... then you choose what Rank people you want in your group. Since people outside your group can't hit your engaged mobs, your larger, rank appropriate group will get the majority of mobs and have the best chance of getting the "boss(es)" as well. Every one gets the prize at the end... Just saying, you have a bit of control over the situation, unless of course a premade group of mishmash ranks shows up.

Um, huh? As long as players are within 5 levels of you (higher) or 10 levels lower, you still get the xp bonus so I don't understand this comment. It makes a heck of a lot more sense to form 1 big group and let EVERYONE get SP than do it in smaller groups and be fighting over mobs.
