so somebody translated a world map completely. there are a **** ton of areas that arent in game yet. and it seems roughly half of the la noscea continent isnt accessible yet. so it seems i was right about there being another side of the island.

Hopefully they design those zones with more character, life, and variety. I think we'd all like that

Not all of those names are going to be actual places.

To speculate, I assume with the release of Gyr Abania we will see the end of Vanilla and the conclusion of it's storyline. There we will learn something shocking about the Garlean empire and defeat the mysterious judge.

But before that, the 3 "beastmen" regions will be released, and the story will take us there for a while. The areas being the ones closest to the 3 main cities. Paglth'an, O'ghomoro, and Xelphatol.

Probably after the beastman regions or before, we will also go to Dravania where Ishgard is fighting against the dragons. In that part of the story we help them in their struggle.

As far as their release goes, I think they will be implemented in 3 consecutive updates, starting in March or June.

But there are still few areas we don't have access to in the existing regions. The new guildleves in December may take us there.

That's awesome information. The Far(reach) sounds like a pretty tough place being the farthest north and all. Hopefully the snowy areas are around the Abalathia's Spine area, with all that white on the map.

I think seeing something as simple as a blowing snow effect will make this game really feel like a Final Fantasy. I can't wait to see how it will look in FFXIV. I thought seeing Xarcabard for the first time was amazing. :) Well, all we can do is wish and hope SE gets it right this time around too.

Wow this is awesome, wonder how long it will be for the first expansion to see some of these areas, unless there already in the .dats and just not activated yet.

Glad you're all psyched. But with only 4 new regions, I hope they aren't all cut and pasted like Thanalan and the Black Shroud.

The line SE gave about the the need for cut a paste zones of this game is a lame excuse. La Noacea is only minor cut and paste; Coerthas is only minor cut and paste too; finally Mor Dhona is the most current awesome area of the game. These 3 should have been the starting zones because Thanalan and the Black Shroud just plain suck in the huge repetitiveness of "I've seen this before".

I dunno... for those complaining about the copy and paste or whatever - I have to say I just don't notice it - other than the fact that grid pretty much looks all the same - but I believe they were going for that maze-like effect. In Thanalan there is plenty of variety and little details like the smokestack things near blue fog (which actually create a blue fog at times!) and the little island hideaway at the ferry terminal, and the underground maze beneath the camp horizon zone.

I've never played a videogame without recycled terrain in greater or lesser amounts. Can anyone name even one?

Back on topic - THANKS!

I don't know about other people but I can't wait to explore the ruins of Ala Mhigo. I'm guessing that zone will be where we really encounter the empire - since it was them who destroyed the city.

awesome!

But still even with all these new areas on the map...I want in Ishgard!
And a ship...to sail to the Sea of Jade. I have a feeling FFXIV's version of the sea horror is out there.

I've been referring to these as Mako reactors, since I don't know what else to call them.

i beleive ishgard is going to be its own actual loading zone unlike other citys. when i made my way across the bridge of ishgard after you go a distance the game kicks you and the graphics get all wierd. it never switched maps either. makes me think itl be its own zone. multiple levels and maps like jeuno and what not.
