You've found zero solutions because there are zero solutions. If I'm not mistaken, the now defunct FFXIV windower helped with the issue, but they got a C&D order from SE and so too would anyone who came along after them and offered similar functionality.

It's likely an issue that SE is aware of and is working to fix, but they've got their hands full right now. The solution is the solution: run windowed mode. It's not ideal, but it's what works.

yeah sorry it cant be helped its just a current flaw that's waiting to be fixed
i personally play in windowed mode with the resolutions matching and just move the top toolbar up and off screen and the bottom bar down and off screen for "pretend fullscreen" lol

I just use AutoHotKey and pretend I'm using true Full Screen. And correct me if I'm wrong, but this is an issue that still persists with FFXI so I wouldn't get my hopes up about them adding the proper functionality in XIV.

The difference here is XI was a straight port from the PS2 to the PC. FFXIV was built on the PC and being ported to the PS3 and already confirmed to having to be redone in various ways for the PS3 because of how it manages its' memory. Also, load up another directx intensive or focus application and watch how XIV tend to crash because it loses focus, so it's definitely a legitimate problem compared to a shoddy port.

That is to say if it IS a problem rather than a design decision.

Well, they claimed it was a design decision in FFXI because you couldn't alt+tab on a PS2 and they wanted to make the versions identical. That argument is obviously completely flawed, but that's what they went with.
