I hope that there will be some more free trail. I know they want to start earning money and they will certainly have mine in some time... but i might have a little cash crisis in next month.. nothing to be sure, but another free month would be helpful.

I think if the December update is as good as the November one then people will be willing to pay. Least I will.

They will probably judge the player numbers after December patch before making the final decision.

However, they have already lengthened the XI+XIV discount period until March, so that probably means their current plan is to start charging us at the end of December.

It would be nice to keep getting free months til ps3 release.

In all seriousness i see them discontinuing the free months for now but when they see the massive drop off of players reinstating it in jan/feb

I see a lot of people playing the game casually after purchasing as it has been free to play.
Don't think square is gonna give out any more free months though, and it'll be interesting to see what will happend to the player base. The dec patch must be awesome to avoid the slump.

If the December patch is as good as expected then no, I don't think so.

And honestly, as someone who wants to see XIV succeed, I hope they don't.

Nov + Dec patch alleviates a ton of the bugs that shouldn't have been there at the release of the game. It also puts a "real release" much closer to December where many beta players thought it should have been in the first place before they rushed it. It just sets a bad precedence to keep extending free months and I feel SE did a fair job giving us 2 free months while they got the game to at least a respectable state (hopefully after Dec. patch).

It would be a nice gesture, but the reason they gave us another free month was so we could see the patches so we know if we wanted to start paying, so seeing as we should see the dec patch with the free month already then i would say prolly not

Will the december update be out by then? Usually they seem to update towards the end of the month.

It all depends us CE players, depending on when the patch truely is, may be charged before or right after the patch.

For instance lets say they do the patch on the 17th. We get 2-3 days of the patch til we are billed. If the patch isnt til after the 20th then we will be billed before the patch thus some or maybe alot of people wont even see what it adds.

Although SE and later players will be here for the patch and still be playing free for sure.

You'll be playing A LOT of xbox live games then, believe me I can't wait for D3 either, but I question if it'll even make it by the end of this year (although i'm hopeful!).

On topic, I think its time they start charging. With the exception of content, the Nov. patch fixed most of the issues people were having with the game being "broken" with UI tweaks and general lag issues alone. To be fair though, if they do start charging subs then give people a taste of the patch before its time to make the cough up the monthly fee so they can see if this next patch is worth them staying around for.

december update needs a huge content injection, i for one have tailed off how much i have been playing, literally logging ot manage my bazaar, or complete a few leves. If content aarives ill play more, if it doesnt i wont pay any more until it does.
And if content arrives ill have to think hard about resubbing if ive been away from the game.
It would be wise to keep the hardcore fanbase on side for a bit longer, we are the best advertisment ffxiv can have for some time.

Yeah if Diablo 3 makes it out before the end of 2011 I would be really surprised. The funny thing is over the last 6 months of waiting on FFXIV(after release date was announced) and 2½ months of playing it less and less I am actually feeling video games having less and less of a grip on my free time. I used to be so hardcore I would play my game of choice for 10+ hours per day. Now if I actually play ANY video game at all during the day its only like once every 2-3 days and its usually FFXIV for like 2-3 hours and then im done. Maybe FFXIV being a bad game has actually helped me some.

I hear that! for instance CoD:MW2, I would have 5+ hour gaming sessions every time i played. Along comes FFXIV, then a bit later CoD:Black Ops. Now i can easily play a single match of zombies or deathmatch ect. The only time i play for more then a hour or so is when friends come over with their PS3's to party up.

They really should considering it still feels like we're doing beta testing for when the game finally comes out on the PS 3 in March. Besides, I had to replace my debit card and you wouldn't believe how hard it is to update your debit details (I still haven't done it). It really feels like SE go out of their way to make things complicated.

I hope they start charging this month. Players who need another Update, or PS3 release or the Stars to Fall, need to make up their minds NOW not later.
