Ok lets try this approach take 2 games that you liked and compare them (SE Games I mean). I loved 7 loved how the materia worked and just everything about it. When 8 came out they changed everything. I hated 8 lol.FF1 was very different the Ff2 and so on. SE tends to change things when they make a new game. Love it or leave it thats what they do.

Xi has been out for 8 years in the states, and most of the list i keep seeing was added with expantions (I am not good at spelling btw lol). Starting out in a new game you have to lvl so really lets think about that. Will you get to do end game or other content if your not high enough in rank? So might as well get that out of the way so you can enjoy all of that content that isn't there atm but will be there soon enough.

Take it as you will but that is my take. I didn't come into XIV looking for a new XI.

english might not be his first language to the jack *** grammar police. also the oo its a new mmo so it wont have much is just a retarded comment. now if you said its a really poorly developed, terrible, and new mmo. then you could say that comment. just because a mmo is new doesn't give it the right to be this bad and lack even some off the most basic sh*t. ffxiv has even a terrible graphics engine, which is proven by how it isn't the best looking thing but still runs like it is.

I agreed right up to the part where you started rambling about it having a terrible graphics engine... are we playing the same game? lol i think someone needs a new pc.

considering this is the best looking mmo ive ever played and consequently ive played them all. (mainstream ones mind you) and I was slightly disappointed when I only scored 3k or so on the bench, yet slightly excited/impressed when at launch I was able to run it at the highest settings smoothly bar AA and the AO/DoF check boxes.

If they got anything right it was the graphics engine... but alas, thats about it. That and sticking to their guns about the AH or lack thereof.

I'll whip out my conspiracy theory again:

Did anyone notice how, at the same point in time when Project Rapture was started, FFXI suddenly started getting exponentially more content? And how FFXIV feels like it hasn't learned anything from FFXI?

Theory: FFXI had a mediocre dev team. FFXI's mediocre dev team was moved to Rapture to work on FFXIV and FFXI got a new, good team.

It would certainly explain why we're playing a game that looks like the devs haven't learned anything from FFXI since rapture was announced.

It never ceases to amaze me how idiots keep citing FFXI "on release" as the FFXI released in the US, and comparing that one to FFXIV.

Seriously, stop it. Know what the **** you're talking about before trying to make stupid claims. FFXI shipped WITH Rise of the Zilart.

Regular FFXI didn't have a real endgame, just like FFXIV. It didn't have many of the features that its expansions provided. You know the Sky Gods and the HNM's that you hunted after release? They were from Rise of the Zilart.

So stop trying to say that FFXI was complete on release. Sure, Square missed some basic features in FFXIV which they're just adding, but to say that FFXI was complete on release and citing expansion features is a total fallacy and completely stupid.

Doesn't make much sense. The games were probably developed simultaneously for the longest time, with XI designers working on XIV as well. For example, Komoto is still around when the ToAU vanafest was held. Even if he is also the director of XIV.

XI got good around ToAU, but only because WoW hurt their sub numbers (700k>500k). Just like now, they had to act and do more.

Then, WotG was shipped, and the development of XI started to crawl. I would assume that that's when XIV's development fully started (2007>2010) and XI's funds were cut rather drastically.

This was the status quo until this year when SE, once again, thought that they need to increase the funding on XI to keep people from leaving and thinking XIV means XI's death. A large portion did quit, but this maneuver probably made the losses much smaller.

And this fall, the development was officially split between the 2 games, with both teams working independently and XI with a larger budget than before.
