In anticipation of the NM'sFollow

As I've been leveling my crafting classes, I have started running low on shards/crystals and decided to start ranking up my DoW's to mass gather shards/crystals.
Last night I started my Archer and realized just how quickly I can "tag" or "aggro" a mob.

I remembered back in the old days of when I played FFXI where we would all camp around a spawn point for an NM, and whoever had the ability to tag the NM first, got it.

That said, have you noticed a class ability that can insta-tag a mob?
My Archer is much faster than my Pugilist, even using just the basic attack.

((Off-topic note to admins: Is there a way for me to move an entire thread to the feedback forum, that was posted in the general forums? I didn't want to ask this question in my proper thread and necro it.))

As I understand it NMs are going to be very similar to Leves. Tagging won't be necessary.

That said, my lancer throws javelins at the speed of light from here to Japan but I have to be embarrassingly close.

I hope there will be field NMs. Was this for sure said in Lodestone?

No, and so far there is nothing to confirm that this would indeed be the case.

They talked about adding nm's to the world before which sounds like open world nms. The spotlight for nms on lodestone was a r50 NM leve tho. We shall see I guess as everything is open to interpretation.

Open world NM's can also mean guildleve NM's :).

Not if the only evidence we have is one NM activated from a leve; anything after that is just speculation.

Id go on a limb and say an Archer will be the best NM "puller", because they have the longest range and their /1 attack hits almost instantly

I'm pretty sure my CON basic attack is instant. Hitting "1" in passive mode claims the mob before I even draw my weapon to full active mode stance o_o shorter range than Archer, but I'd say for ranged players the distance will be important only 50%, depending where exactly the NM spawns. For close combat people much harder I presume due to more running involved.

I really hope they won't do the NMs in the same way as in FFXI.
The ridicilous camping for hours just to score the tag on NM was tedious and in no way productive.
I rather work hard to open up a leave for 100% chance to get the fight experience Oo

I hope its like BCNM. Using beastcoins or some other currency to unlock special leves at diffrent camps.

I really really really do not want to stand around waiting for fafnir for 3 hours and then not get the claim. Wasted evening.

I'd really like to see both leves AND open world NM's. I know a lot of people absolutely HATE camping NM's, but I for one enjoyed it in ffxi. I'm not saying I want to see that kind of situation repeated. Lord knows we don't need 24-48 hour lottery spawns like Argus with a 5% drop chance AND the possibility that a different NM will spawn instead. What I'd like to see is separate versions of all the NMs. Perhaps make the open world NMs significantly harder so that they are used more as a test of skill as opposed to drops. They could even make the items that drop from open world have better durability or something that isn't game-breaking, but a nice benefit for fighting something considerably harder.

Pesonaly id like to see both open and leve ones

Leve ones have the best benefit to them

Your spawn is basicaly when you are able to accept and activate it, no stealing allowed there. Gather people and do it as ready instead od relying on a timer. Drops may already be certain through reward of leve, and even more of a chance of random mob drops on top of it.

Open ones

are a great addition to the environment of the game, imagine just walking around in the field when you see one of those bad boys.
however, the spawn camping on these will be a huge downside if its anything like 11 was. and the fact that if they have unique drops that anyone wants, it will be overly camped will suck too.
