Tarbh Uisge

One of the last great buffalo of Vylbrand, Tarbh Uisge was captured while still a calf by an ambitious mummer and trained to entertain audiences around Eorzea. Repeated application of stimulatory and suppressive magicks, however, have slowly eaten away at the beast's sanity, rendering it violent and unpredictable. After its capture nearly a decade ago, Tarbh Uisge was imprisoned on a remote island in the Rhotano Sea and soon forgotten by all...

Wanted: Tarbh Uisge

Not long ago, Mathistien of the Cloven Hoof and his traveling grotesquery was one of the realm's most popular exhibitions. People would flock from all around the countryside to see such spectacles as the two-headed nannygoat, the hairless phurble, and the show's main attraction—the colossal Tarbh Uisge. However, it was not until after the giant creature broke loose from its fetters and trampled through Limsa Lominsa, starting a fire that destroyed hundreds of buildings and killed countless innocent citizens, including two high-ranking thalassocratic officials, that it was revealed that Mathistien was actually an assassin for the Zer'maat Five. Needless to say, the mummer was promptly arrested and exiled to a lonely island prison in the Cieldalaes, where he has remained in solitude for the past ten years...or so we thought, for lately there have been rumors that the assassin has fled his island prison and is not only back on Vylbrand, but has brought with him his loyal pet, Tarbh Uisge. Azeyma's Shields is certain that this is the work of the Zer'maat Five, and will stop at nothing to recapture this dangerous criminal and bring him back to justice.

Levequest Location
Bloodshore

Those who are successful in slaying Tarbh Uisge will be rewarded with a special item known as an Allagan runestone. There are a dozen in all, each representing one of the twelve deities who watch over the peoples of Eorzea. Rumor has that in Ul'dah resides a young trader named Rowena who seeks these rare stones and is offering pieces of finely crafted equipment in exchange.

The following is an example of some of the items available for barter:

As of now I´m not so happy in what way the gear of Eorzea is going.
I don't like the design of the gear here so much.
There is hope that highlevel Gear looks better ^_^

Gear look identical to equipment already ingame plus the new equipment are WEAKER than the current Iron set
Does SE even play their own game? why would i bother wasting my Leve points to get this new armor?

Maybe there is a hiden effect or something i guess?

more leve based NMs. I wonder if their plan is for all NMs to be leve based. I'm looking forward to non-leve based content personally. They should start showing us that stuff instead.

Please note that SE include a caveat on the bottom of the page informing players that gear is still in development and can be subject to change....lets hope they do.

But please dont slate them until the gear is actually in game.

It's highly unlikely for SE to change them since the update will be up next week
I think SE idea is "you will get similar equipment to the high end gear for Free !"

So it's all about getting the identical equipment for Free instead of buying them, If SE made them much more powerful people wont buy the regular equipment from crafters and then crafters will complain

Seriously? you don't think there's a difference between buying gear and taking a while to farm a enough runes to get one through NMs? I'm sure no one is ditching crafters anytime soon.

Many people already have enough points to use to get these equipment, plus many people rather having fun killing hard stuff to get their equipment over buying them, this armor as it current state is an alternative to equipment already ingame it's not omg MUST have equipment

Weaker than the Iron set but looking at the +stats it looks like it would be more for a MAR than a GLA. Stats are only slightly better than Cavalry and haub is equal to the vintage. Looks like I should sell mine now before price falls >.>

Helm looks nooice though.

Ok, this is clearly a DMG based equipment set of armor. I hope they are introducing some Full Plate stuff as well for Gladiator Tanks.

But I'm in no hurry anyway...it's still at least a month before I hit mid 40s, so no reason for any "endgame" equip to be there. I rather just fight something that feels "epic" to it, then get any part of equip that's not worth it for me anyway.

I remember the "making of a realm" video that dealt with armour, and how easy it
allegedly was to make completely fresh-looking gear from one and the same template.
Did they run out of templates already? The mage gear set also looks exactly like
your common acton and (save the mask) the jester's caps that are already in game.

LV 1 characters can already wear LV 50 gear; was it really necessary to make both
level's gear models to look alike now as well?

Probably not their #1 priority right now.

They were also preparing another Benchmark for after release, remember? Then "something" happened, and they've been focusing on a bit more important things, like the UI.

I have to agree that I'm a little upset about the gear reward for this. Although the helm looks cool, the rest is just recycled junk that I already have, and the stats for endgame gear (even if this is just the tip of the iceberg) are extremely poor. I'm going to be pretty ticked off if all the NM's they incorporate are only high level and drop this kind of crap. I mean, I like the challenge of a tough fight as much as the next person, but I expect some kind of carrot being waved for my efforts, not the same old potato I've been munching on for 3 months...

No... mid-month usually means end-months if announced of SE. Okay so if they said middle december this means we have non date until now. So i guess we wait for announcements until we post here that the patch is arriving.

That's what people keep saying, yet provide no explanation. Any time from 10th to 20th is "mid-month" for them, and to be honest, mid-month for me as well. Maybe to you anything before 14th and after 16th is not mid-month?

I would hope it means literally mid-month so it'll come out before the trial ends (for lots of people). That way we can test it out and such beforehand. This is assuming they are happy with this update. If they aren't happy with the update, I'd wait until the trail ends.

Wow, tough crowd.

People seem to be expressing grave concern over "the direction gear is headed"...no offense, but we have only seen ONE caster set and ONE dps / tanking set. I'll personally refrain from jumping to any conclusions about "the direction gear is headed" until I see some more gear sets get released.

I'm also confused by the way people are reacting to the stats on this gear. To what end? What current game content requires increased gear stats to succeed at? Let's not analyze "endgame" gear when there is no "endgame" against which to analyze the performance of said gear.

These NM's are a treadmill for the hardcore that have already exhausted the current content in-game. The gear sets are nothing more than vanity epeen+1 at this point because there is no real endgame content atm.

Excited to fight this NM. Of course it will be a standard tank n spank with perhaps a couple adds. As for the gear, at least this set doesnt make you look like Harley Quinn.

baby steps...there will be more to come.

As far as the update...you would hope they have been saying mid December because they new they had to get it in before us CE players had to start paying around the 22nd. If they don't...I see another free month coming.

Did they say that the NM levequests are going to be faction leves? I don't remember seeing that anywhere, though I could have missed something. It makes sense from a realism standpoint to do it that way, but then it will make it even more difficult to be able to fight the NM's. I'm hoping you don't have to use faction points to fight NM's.

Eitherway, I'm glad that they are adding NMs to the game and all. Really hope that they add some that roam around. Just have them drop exclusive gear or something.

The reasoning behind me thinking that it's a faction leve is that this leve is in Bloodshore. If it was a regular leve then it wouldn't be there, because the regular Bloodshore leves are R20+ and the armor reward is R49...

Quite the opposite actually, it makes the content MORE accessible. Faction points are guaranteed, uncontested and free. Nobody can cheat you out of them or prevent you from getting them; As long as you do your leves you WILL accumulate the points you need. It's a surprisingly good idea.

OH no, now all the 10-30s will be wearing this set of gear! Hehe, joking of course. But anyway I like the armor and hearing how its obtained is starting to give me some hope for FFXIV. I'm sure in time this NM will become a basic one as more and more NMs are added, as with all the first NMs. So, the only way to go is up as SE starts to finally build the game's content. I'm hoping we will get a chance to decide between atleast a couple different sets of armor for both the DOw/DoM classes with this update. If not, then it might seem a little disappointing with only 1 set to obtain. Variety is always good. Let's hope to some entertaining content, shall we?

You are correct.. this NM seems to be also associated with the Allagan Runestone set. My bets are that there is one more NM associated with this rune set. I bet other "Leve" NM's will be associated with different rune sets and will vary in difficulty and gear level.

It would be nice if the NM gear looked cooler. I mean even if they left this model exactly the same and all the gear was red or blue or something I bet people would dig it.

But silver? yawn.

Come on SE. You gotta make this worth the trouble.

Also I want some open world content. I am sick of guildleves.

It would be nice if the NM gear looked cooler. I mean even if they left this model exactly the same and all the gear was red or blue or something I bet people would dig it.

But silver? yawn.

Come on SE. You gotta make this worth the trouble.

Have you seen the recent equipment models in XI? Be careful what you ask for, dude!

I don't care about terrain being somewhat copy-paste but no variety in equipment - especially hard to get equipment... is lame.

Another significant addition planned for the December version update is the introduction of notorious monsters (NMs), which will appear in open areas and on guildleves (faction leves).

Kinda self-explanatory, but I still won't get my hopes too high.
