Possible idea for LS Leadership Management IssuesFollow

I often joke that leading a guild/linkshell/clan/whatever is like herding cats, and in some ways that is probably true. In WoW we had a bi-monthly or so meeting on an alternative server to discuss issues with regards to guild management. I was wondering if there is enough of a community of LS leaders here (LS owners as well as pearlsack holders) that would be interested in discussing such issues in an open forum such as a mumble/vent/ts server or whatever. I did not organise such in WoW but I also know that the meetings were usually beneficial to all both hardcore and casual groups alike.

Thoughts... suggestions?

I will be launching and end game group when the end game finally hits and I would like to be a part of this cross-server talks. It really does help form the standard of endgame leadership and rules for the community will help break free of the WoW raid dkp system for FFXIV's more complex system of casually hardcore playerbase.

I think this is actually a really interesting idea. Instead, however, why not create a category in the these forums. It would be wonderful to have an area where we could all just discuss LS management. LS's are the bread and butter of FFXI and FFXIV. Without them, these games lose a substantial amount of camaraderie and fun factor; and pulling off a successful LS (whether Endgame or social) is no easy task.

People wonder why their LS's die? It's a lack of concrete/good leadership. Wouldn't it be awesome to get advice and input from our fellow LS leadership teams (LS leaders and sackholder)?

This is a very interesting idea, and one that could be beneficial to not just new leadership, but perhaps bring new ideas to experienced leaders as well. I'd be interested in something like this, definitely.

I am going to send a PM to Pikko and see if maybe a thread section couldn't be created for Linkshell/Company management issues. I have a personal belief that with the release of companies our jobs are going to get that much harder and more intricate... LOL

On a side note..
It would be nice in-game if we could administer our LS without needing the members to be both online and standing next to us.....

While that is a big concern, I think current Linkshell management is not complete and with companies, hopefully the option to remove and demote, or promote members will be optional. After all, the linkshell window did change last patch too.

A forum on here for discuss... ordered discussion that is free from trolling will go a long way towards consolidating some of the FFXIV playerbase here on ZAM. Afterall.. Core and BG are drama filled enough as is, any serious people will get the message through the grapevine.

100% agreed.

I also agree, based on past LS leadership experience, that the #1 reason linkshells fall apart, more than any other reason, is issues with leadership. This can mean leaders who aren't effective or leaders who don't communicate with each other or leader drama or a number of things, but leadership issues have been the top reason for the downfall of every linkshell or guild I've ever seen collapse.

I'd like to see this thread stay on the front page, so I'm bumping for great justice.

I too agree that management per se, is quite limited right now with the tools we've been given by SE. I strongly feel like Companies really *need* to be implemented ASAP. I sincerely hope they include tools for managing membership, since they're sorely needed. More than that though, I'm looking forward to Companies bringing group-oriented goals like the ships and buildings, leveling up the Company, etc. Group-oriented goals are a great way to bring people together and can add so much depth to a group.

In the interim as leaders, we can organize events and create opportunities to build our groups, but having something in-game to work towards is just as important.

Even if there isn't a forum created, or any kind of group meeting, I think it's great that there are other leaders out there who are willing to get together and share ideas and talk about the issues we face.

sounds something similar to big kill system FFXI endgame once had

the ppl behide theorderls.com would prob do the big kill system FFXI had few years ago (before most of the endgame community moved on to villina wow) again for FFXIV

big kill was a system that graded endgame linkshell cross-server by the HNM/endgame kill they have earn & it was something run by the community not SE

personaily i would love it if they would bring back the big kill system
