Anybody else for the idea of consolidating some of the servers so the realm population is playable until SE fixes what they intend to? I think it would help some of the people who are looking for groups to have some more dedicated players on, instead of frustrating some of the players who are on low population servers. Just lock the empty ones until the PS3 release or until the existing ones fill up.

I'd rather see a "free to change servers" option instead of Server merging. Some people want to stay on the server they've chosen.

Won't happen. TOo much of a stigma associated with server mergers, it'd take balls of steel on SE's part to go through with it this early(to most it would essentially signify the last nail in the FFXIV coffin).

yeah, I agree with that, let people change servers instead of closing some. I like my empty server, less morons. 500ish people on usually.

Plenty of people running around on Istory, and I'm pretty sure we are low pop.

Not sure where you are at, but more people killing my mobs isn't my idea of fun XD

If the population doesn't increase anytime soon, server merges will be necessary if they ever decide to implement some kind of meaningful group content. That's fine and dandy that Istory has a decent population, not every server can say the same thing...

Server mergers at this point would be a knee-jerk panic response. Neither necessary nor particularly wise.

I wouldn't like to see server merges anytime soon, but perhaps right before the release of the ps3 version (whenever that may be). They could consolidate the servers (if needed) and open new servers. I'd really be disappointed if they didn't open new servers when the ps3 version came out. As it will supposedly be a different game by then, i'd like to have the option to start on a fresh server... Beginning a brand new mmo was a huge selling point for me when i bought the game.

It would be smart to see how the PS3 version fares out before even considering server merges.

This would be really bad idea at this time for a game that's trying to fix it's image and repair the damage done by a very bad first impression upon launch.

Can you see the press releases if they actually did this? ...

"Less than 3 months into it's launch, Final Fantasy XIV forced to merge servers .... Is this the beginning of the end?..."

Not exactly the message you want to send to people out there who are still deciding if they want to play this game.

Server merger would not hurt the game in it's current state. Lets face the fact that 3 months into the game and the game isn't ready for launch yet. The bad publicity is already here. **** they are giving it away and people aren't buying it. SO seriously who are we trying to kid that server merger will hurt the game?

I honestly think the worst thing they can do right now is to try and fix the game and add content to people currently playing. Shut the servers down. Fix what needs to be fix. Open server back up and now add the content. Keeping the servers up mean people will level. And now SE is going to not only come up with low level things but also add things for people nearing 50. No one in their 40s will come back and do the 1-30 level content they need to add. Instead they will be ******** about nothing to do 40-50, which isn't what SE needs to address first.

I see SE burning the candle at both ends. Good luck with that.

That's totally irrelevant at this point, since they have extended the trial yet another month, and up to who knows when :) also they have changed the people in charge of this project, and have delayed the PS3 version yet Again! Which of this does not spell's out "Desperation?"

The best thing they can do is merge the server's and keep those that are currently playing with a good amount of population to group and do stuff with, instead of this ghost server's where pop is 700 at times

There are a lot more then 700 people on my server and I am not the only one who has noticed that more people are coming back, but peak hours and weekends do matter. There were so many people leveling yesterday and today I cannot even get a spot at a camp! They are more spread out now. And I see Rpers Rping without people yelling at them. Some changes have gripped the community in recent weeks... and its for the better now.

So too mimic above: If they do server merges they bring their own coblyns and doblyns!

There are plenty of people to group with. There is just no reason to group. 7 minutes an hour for a behest? Maybe some leves? other than that it is pointless and slow to group right now. They need to fix that then grouping will fix itself.
