When you start casting, there's a green button that pops up that says "Area of Effect"... Click it..
AFAIK, You can only turn it on when you start casting which is stupid, but just the way the game is. Once it's on, it stays on..

Just typing /aoe will toggle it on or off.

Actually you click the spell, then it allows you to toggle AoE and then spell goes off. TC I think Shell and Protect are cone shaped AoE, I haven't got them myself before but if they are you just toggle AoE on, ask party to "gather" in front of you and face them so they are within the cone then cast the spells.

This the CON/THM wonderful Buff the party but dont aggro mobs macro...
Will turn on AoE for buffs... and then disable it so when you nuke you will not aggro other mobs with AoE.

/aoe on
/ac Protect <me>
/wait 4
/aoe off

or... if you want to throw the spell to AoE at your party..
with <t> being the target party member

/aoe on
/ac Protect <t>
/wait 4
/aoe off

Protect in these macros can be subbed for Shell/stoneskin/Cure/Sacrifice.
For Shock Spikes or any other spell or action that is 2 words (has a space) you must quotes.
So your cast syntax would be:

/ac "Shock Spikes" <me> or /ac "Shock Spikes" <t>

This method will also be used when you get Tier 2 spells, you will need quotes:
"Protect II" "Shell II" ... etc..

Happy Curing and Nuking~

Spells if cast as a THM are cone, but if cast as a CON are circular AoE. As far as I can tell with the spells I've used it doesn't matter which spell is cast, just the class it's cast with.
