Why to stick in FFXIV than running back to WOW or FFXI #2Follow

The game is tailored for leveling more than one class. The more subs you have the better your main gets. Having crafting and gathering as classes themselves is a very different direction for them to take. Only the players will turn this game into an FFXI, let's hope it don't go that direction. I'd rather it earn it's own niche, then be a knockoff to another game by the same company.

Blizzard had dumb downed WoW so much their own players cannot play another game where npcs lack "!", over their heads.

There isn't an MMO out there that doesn't have sites dedicated to quest walk through. Blizzard putting the ! on their NPC just cuts out the middle man.

And while we are at the topic of dumb down, games are ment to entertain. You don't need to be a genius to play any MMO, it is all about who can devote the most time to it. Adding convenience is not dumbing down a game and making things inconvenience does not make a game more challenging.

Let's compare leveling, FFXIV slower than WOW. In Cata the first raid is already beaten at 11/12. Not even 2 weeks out!
WoW had no endgame content when it launched either, so FFXIV and WoW are on equal terms there.

How hard is WoW? Seriously WoW is MMOs for dummys. Let the teenagers stay there. We don't need them here. The difference between FFXIV and WoW, there will be no "die in the fire" types in FFXIV (if they attempt to play FFXIV their little heads may blow up from having to think), THANK GOODNESS!

Seriously if you dont know WTF you are talking about then dont.

Wow had end content when it came out :) Molten core and Onyxia plus 12+ Dungeon's not counting all the regular bosses, elite's etc etc and world bosses outside of dungeons :)

As for the 11/12 Raid, That's a guild that gets PAID to play WOW :) and get World First before anybody else :) And they where in the beta, and beta tested that raid until the expansion came out, is only normal that they knowing how the fights work, and being more skilled than your avarage player would get so far so quick, after all thats what they pay them for, besides entry level raid's are not designed to be hard :/

If wow is for dummy's FFXI/FFXIV are for people who have no life's.

I don't think MC was available until a big later.

WoW PvE is pretty boring. It's like levequests 24/7 by yourself.

Um... everything? Sorry, but if WoW is the standard you're going by, maybe you need to up the ante a little bit. There are plenty of other MMO's out there, some of them have superior combat systems to WoW and virtually all of them are better looking. Expand your comfort zones and realise that WoW hasn't been the ultimate MMO since 2008, it's just the one everyone knows about.

Hey, so I just got back fighting against the black dragonfight who is trying to destroy the world. Lets see, in the past couple hours I rode on the back of a dragon fighting against other dragons, I helped some dwarves try to unite their clans through to fight against the cult trying to help the dragons, when I got tired of story I went and did some archaeology which gives you relics in order to cover ancient lore questions, oh lets see. Yesterday I fought the Naga in an entirely underwater zone, I actually got to play as Naga at one point, which was awesome, naga battlemaidens are badass. I rode in a gnomish submarine and fought a battle against the minions of an evil god, I played bait to catch a shark for a crazy guy, I freaking flew over Stormwind, more beautiful than I can describe.

What did you do? Ground some points on Dodos? That's pretty cool I guess.

You make some really boring **** in WoW sound exciting. Who the **** flys over stormwind for fun? Let me retranslate what you actually did so people don't confuse it for fun.

1) you fought some humanoid looking dragons, common mobs endgame in WoW. good for you
2) you can fly in WoW.
3) you were on a mission where nobody ever reads the quest log b/c there is no cutscene, and you actually read it, so you knew you were helping some dwarves, congratulations.
4) you clicked on some books, some modals popped up, and you actually read it.
5) you were in an underwater zone where movement speed is like 50% and everyone thinks it sucks, but you somehow made killing some mermaids sound like fun
6) you rode on a vehicle that goes underwater, and you killed worthless mobs
7) you flew over a city rendered with crap graphics and thought it was beautiful for some inexplicable reason.

Dont worry i'll wait

Catgirls.

A lalla that falls asleep when sitting down.

On a serious note, the job system. Its what I loved about XI over any other MMO, it was the best job system in existance. XIV goes one step better then that.

But XIV showed why XI was something special that it was not a solo game like WoW. XIV tried to be a mix so it was more friendly but perhaps that was SE's mistake, they tried to give the people what they wanted and even that isnt good enough.

Oh and another thing, the craft system is much better.

I could write a long list but to be frank, I should wait 3 years before comparing a game like WoW and XIV. If I compare XI to WoW I would be here all day. If you dont like XIV then frankly delete your account and go back to WoW.

What? They tried to give people what they wanted?

Uh, no they didn't. Not even close. Maybe they gave you what you wanted but the rest of the world wanted content. I'm pretty sure people didn't want cut and pasted terrain. I'm pretty sure they wanted a better UI. I'm pretty sure they didn't want lag for every single action. I'm pretty sure they didn't want a terrible chat system and terrible linkshell functionality. I'm pretty sure people wanted bosses, some quests, a decent bazaar system (people would forget the auction house if the bazaar was good), a server community that chatted instead of toiled in utter silence. Sure the crafting system is good, sure the all jobs on one toon is good, but it doesnt make a game. It doesnt even make a glorified chat system since that sucks too.

Yes a few people like things the way they are. But you few aren't enough to keep the lights on and the employees paid. The customers have spoken, SE has listened and fired a lot of people, delayed the PS3 release and everyone gets to beta for free. And thank god they did because maybe NOW they will give people what they wanted, someday.

I have a question for anyone that happens to know the answer.Ive never played WoW at all so i know absolutely
nothing about the game. And never playing that game i also have never went to a Wow forum because not playing
there really isn't any reason for me to frequent a forum of a game i don't play.

So my question is in the Wow forums is there Final Fantasy players trolling there spewing crap about the game
day in and day out.Or is it just us that get so much love from the WoW posters?

Once under a bluemoon a WoW poster will mention FFXI or FFXIV exist, and he will be lapidated instantly.

Addendum.
So this reminded me of the fact someone said "hey look, WoW copied chocobos (Hawkstriders, bloodelf mounts)".
The kind of answers that resulted are pretty interesting:

My very simple answer to why I prefer FFXIV over both World of Warcraft and FFXI:

WoW: I don't like PVP games.
FFXI: I don't like Abyssea-only content.

eh, its all just backlash from the bitter FFXI/FFXIV players who bash WoW, (often using claims that don't make sense), because there is a very annoying demographic of players. They crap on wow calling it an 'ez mode, instant gratification, game that plays itself due to addons' when in reality its none of those, In an attempt to make themselves better by claiming they play a 'more mature, intellectual and strategic' game. Nobody likes having their game called crap.

To quote and old guild leader of mine, "This ain't 10 Naxx." Seriously, we have some very bored teenagers trolling our forum, because they are already bored with that grand content. Most of the people I know in that game are already raiding Cata. Not even a month out.

In Vannilla you actually earned the gear you had, in BC it was the same.

Then in comes Wrath, get to endgame beat the raid, grind heroics until your eyes bleed, to aquire gear you didn't actually earn. To run with people who had no real raid experince, was awful. They couldn't even follow concise instructions. Dumbing down of WoW did happen. Anything with an ounce of challenge gets nerfed, a.k.a OCC. It is very good that players like these little WoW trolls won't be playing the game. I like seeing players who a very busy in the game and not spamming the main chat, that means they aren't bored, something to consider when you compare it to trade chat.

The only thing that makes WoW hard, is the bad players. And there are more of them, then there are good ones. Ten will get you twenty, these trolls spent at least 30 minutes trying to figure out how to get out of the docks at LL, in the beta.

Maybe there is hope, Tera Online looks like a WoW 2. You may be able to play it, maybe.

no offence, but people seriously. WoW, ffxi, XIV, guild wars, any rpg for that matter are a grind . . .

You have to start somewhere. They all do it different and power to them.

I irks me people constantly complaining about "the grind" this is the type of game you signed up for. You want gear
grind raid, instances, seals, points, blah blah blah.

You want improved stats and levels do your thousandth quest, join that skill/exp party. Its all the same just the presentation differs and how to get there.

This is one of those things I never understood about gaming culture in general as its evolved it really feels that many gamers want the start cut scene, and the end cut scene and next. Not wanting to put the effort for the stuff in between.

Now I understand XIV atm the is barren it is just grind your levels killing endless coblyn's and dodo's, which isn't appealing at all to anyone. Heck I'm on hiatus until this all gets worked out, nothing to defend until SE comes up with a plan.

But endlessly bashing at how any MMO gets you to end game is very pointless. WoW is fast, AION is slow, XI is somewhere in between. Pick your poison people and please enough with all these threads, and use some common sense before posting.
