I doubt the free-roaming NM's will be the top tier of end-game content like FFXI. you will not be forced to bot to stay competitive like you did in FFXI.

Guys, guys.

This isn't the 3 kings, it's just normal world spawn NMs. Don't **** a brick yet. It's obvious that someone at SE learned their lesson because nothing like the 3 kings ever happened again after CoP, we instead got ZNM and VNM.

Saying all world spawn NMs ought to go the way of the Dodo is ridiculous, a lot of people really enjoy that content. Also, if you want the gear but don't want to camp, do something that is "active" by your definition, make the gil and buy it. From what I can see, all world spawn NMs drop materials, which means you can have any loot that comes from them made for you, or buy it yourself.

I don't see where all the ******** is coming from, oh wait hurp durp, internet forums. Carry on.

I wonder if the ol' Gobbies are going to wander about and sneak up on ya like they did in FFXI. As annoying as it once was...I do miss it. It really gave them personality.

I hope they patch real life soon, fishing? What the **** is this, there's totally no content, you just sit there and wait until your line gets tugged on. All that waiting around for 30 seconds of content? I want some game play --- come on God!

If you don't like camping nm's then don't camp them. Craft, Farm, or harvest your way to enough money to buy the final product. What do you want? If they weren't rare monsters then there wouldn't be anything special about them.

I wonder if I'm the only one who is guessing that the Great Buffalo will likely drop weapons from time to time because of that line in his description?

Or did people stop reading before they got that far?

FF Franchise these things are constant with slight alterations:

Summons
Certain Bosses
Certain Enemies
Cid
Mogs
Class Artifact Armors
Various Items
Chocobos
Airships

And yes, Flans always looked like that in some form. XI goblins are beloved, its only fair they come back for XIV.

This sounds more painful than grinding, especially knowing I'm not gonna get a complete item, and I'll have to go search for other mats and a crafter, who I'll have to tip.

At least with grinding I'm constantly making progress, even if it's at an unbearably slow pace. I could log on for hours doing this and literally accomplish nothing at all.

If you feel this way I suggest you keep grinding and then buy the drop/completed item.

I personally think it will be fun to try to take these down... but that is just me. I don't think I am anywhere near high enough to take these though - except maybe the goat.

I don't see what's wrong with his response, but I'm guessing you don't play SAM in FFXI?

Glee! Now, why is it I'm more scared of the one with the FRYING PAN than if one of them had a two-handed sword

I personally think they look similar (like, not exactly like... pardon my lack of clarification), it's a different art style and yes XIV puks that I've fought so far seem limited to the ground but I just imagine them as baby versions of what we had in XI. I guess my personal thoughts on them may be differing compared to the majority... I am a bit of an oddball at times.

Because those pans are deliciously evil, and I have several nostalgic screenshots of the aftermath of a well placed Gobbie Fry pan...
