Nifty Piece of Lore.

This event seems to be a little better planned out than the usual vana 'diel ones. No weird mini-game to get the items, just need to find a crafter or do a craft yourself.

FFXI Square-Enix didn't do anything like this for awhile. With all the criticism and problems with FFXIV, I am surprised they actually had time to implement this event.

Wow and you can hold many sets to give to friends... and the rank required for all but the log one is easily achievable by casual players wanting to make their own items. This seems good, and it gives us a run to each of the npc towns which are barely implemented, but not truly open.

This does seem better then the first XI ones.

I gotta admit, those Dream Boots look rather dashing. And the reindeer horns on the chocobo are cute.

From Lodestone:

Duration
Thursday, December 17th (00:00 a.m. GMT) through Friday, December 31st (15:00 a.m. PST)

OK, maybe I'm crazy, but my calendar states Dec 17 to be Friday. And I often wonder why I'm not an alcoholic.

lol @ the chocobo with antlers :)

Would be cool if they add a snow weather effect for this event. I can just imagine Gridania or Limsa Lominsa areas covered in snow

Need to make food stats show on the item itself for that to happen!

Which I hope they'll do sooner rather than later, but I doubt it will be this week.

As part of the linkshell changes that are coming in December, undoubtedly they are planning for linkshell handbell competitions. My FFXIV life is now complete.

I like that you can either craft the things or do a run to get them.

The food has too many ingredients, however. Poor CUL, always getting screwed. I'd like to make some turkeys however.

This smells like an NPC-quest to me (at least close enough) and I'll take it! WOOT.

You don't mind my highlander not wearing any trousers with this Xmas tutu right? =D

Funny how I never did the tasks during Xmas in XI, but this gets me excited.

This is cool too though.

Yeah, but SE wants to fix the game, not at seasonal events and charge people for a broken system. Consider it a freebie.

Wait... it's better planned out because there's nothing much planned? o_O

I thought it was supposed to be fun doing events, not just holding the item at the end...

Hmm Humbug again! whats the point of having them lame looking Santa outfits if they dont give u any special stats! something use full. I have enough problems with storing items as it is. The point is to wear them and feel all chrismisssee!!! :))
They are the worst looking Santa outfits I have seen on any game I played.

The Grinch got me ^.^

I hope the new management shifts the focus away from crafters. Its beyond silly for a seasonal event that involves no fighting to reward you with ingredients for a craftable item.

Sure, it makes figthers socialize with crafters, but to what end when crafters need to do nothing of the sort?
It'd make more sense if a seasonal mob dropped the ingredients so crafters could go "ok, you kill two mobs, get ingredients for both of us, and I'll craft them".

Leaving aside that weaving and leather level 10 is easy to get.

Well, fighting is usually not the focus of a christmas holiday event. It's more about sharing and getting small fun gifts.

Besides, you do actually have to fight - you have to kill dormice to craft any of the clothing.
