Will you be using the Lodestone linkshell pages?Follow

#1 Dec 13 2010 at 11:38 AM Rating: Good
With the addition of linkshell pages to the Lodestone (which is a great idea, in my opinion), many people will have the opportunity to discuss things outside of the game when they did not have the opportunity before. However, many linkshells already have their own website, so will those shells use both sites, continue to use only their established site, or switch over to the lodestone page? One upside to the lodestone pages is that anyone can search for you and see information about your linkshell if they want to join, without having to find a url from somewhere. What do you guys think of the additions?
Will you be using the Lodestone linkshell pages?
Absolutely! My linkshell didn't have a page before.:12 (29.3%)
Yes, but we will be linking it to our linkshell's main page and primarily using that.:12 (29.3%)
We will be using both pages equally so that nonmembers can check us out more easily.:5 (12.2%)
No, we don't need the Lodestone site. Our current site works just fine.:6 (14.6%)
I don't even have a linkshell!:5 (12.2%)
No, my linkshell doesn't have nor do we need a website. We communicate entirely in-game.:1 (2.4%)
Total:41

I do enjoy the linkshell roster page, easier to access and to check levels than the in game method or looking them up manually.

Could use some more features imo, but it's a start.

I like the start with this... bot more features will be nice. I am looking forward to being able to search out linkshells, and see the information on them. One thing I will thoroughly enjoy is being able to see just who the LS leaders are for the idiots on my server so that I can have a chat with them about the actions of their members. As a LS leader myself I too like knowing that another LS leader can contact me about the actions of my members.

I hadn't thought of this, but that's an interesting idea. Gives people a little more accountability for their actions. I seriously doubt it'll stop the idiots, but it certainly can't hurt.

Not enough variations on the answers. Too much assuming that all linkshells already have a website. And if they didn't, they'll use the lodestone version. Then jumps straight to "No linkshell". Some sort of "I don't care" answer would be good too...

I can think of many different things that could of been done then wasting time and resources on upgrading a website. The game is in critical condition on a faltering life support unit. How about we get the game up to par on what people want/expect before wasting time designing a website.

I was trying to keep it simple. I didn't see a need for a poll with 10+ options (sorry Mik!). Also, I honestly don't mean for this to be rude, but if you don't care, then just don't vote... I don't need to include an option for it. Smiley: tongue

Serenity of Lindblum already has a fully functional site with forums, picture galleries, and so much more. Unfortunately, what SE is offering us just isn't nearly as customizable or personal as our own site, so we probably won't use it as our main hub of member communication outside of the game. However, we will use it. If anything we'll use it to direct more people to our own domain.

Well, you have to understand that game developers and web developers are not the same group of people. So while game developers can work on the functions and fixes that the players want, web developers are offering us new and interesting off game add ons that we never had before.

I see, then I'll just answer this question...

This addition of having linkshell pages for a broken game is about as useful as an incomplete poll. Think that about sums up my opinion...

I added one more option. Hopefully that makes it complete enough for you. I'll admit that I did make the assumption that people wanted a website at all, which is not necessarily the case. However, nobody is making you participate in the poll either. I would prefer that this not turn into a flame war. There are too many of those as it is.

Forest Federation will be using the Lodestone linkshell pages as our main site. I can't wait for more features to be added to it!

A Mari Usque Ad Mare, the few of us that still play, will also make their home on Lodestone. I like what I see so far, and I hope to see more features in there.

I like that it takes no effort at all from the linkshell members to appear on there.

I've already set it up, and I like it.
It is missing a few key Admin options, like pinning threads in certain slots, not just sticky-ing them, but then again LS admin functions in-game need some work as well!
All in all it's a welcome addition to the XIV experience. I applaud the effort in providing us such a useful out of game tool on a site we know to be safe and ad-free.

The question we need to ask is... Did this poll have enough options?
