although how could you call anything but "slavery" a system which allow people to pay less than a dollar a day to its workers?
When that dollar a day is higher than the average wage, and pays a greater portion of monthly expenses than my decent job working at a large company?
Different economies are different. A dollar a day is decent when your rent amounts to $5 a month.
There are plenty of questions regarding the ethics of western companies and their overseas factories, mind. I'm not defending every western company that has manufacturing operations overseas, because some exploit the locals the same way domestic companies do. But, often the jobs are considered to be relatively easy and to pay very well. There are places where a dollar is a lot.
