Not that I'm ever happy saying "no" to a feature, I think this is a bad choice, even though I own a Crossfire setup. With the reluctance to change the cut-n-paste roads scattered throughout La Noscea because "the PS3 is coming" I think this one might be a poor choice to fix. This one needs to be compared to resources available and product requirements.
The former is better left to another thread.
The latter is simply that the further things diverge between a PS3 and up-to-date computing hardware in a multi-platform development effort the less likely it is to implement them given concern of time, resources, and technical complexity.
As an aside, if you have a 40" 1080P at 2 feet, you're too close. Most monitor manufacturer recommended distances for a 40" screen approach five feet as a minimum distance. THX recommends approximately 4' to 6' with a minimum distance corresponding to a 40 degree viewing angle. There are a number of good viewing distance calculators you can find on the web, not that it isn't your right to sit wherever you want in the privacy of your own home.
