Higher quality textures on distant objects. Can I have it?Follow

I have my graphics options set to max but still the textures that are far away are very low quality. I would really like an option to set the high detail textures to be used even on objects that are far away. I've got several gigabytes of video RAM and Final Fantasy XIV only uses about 400 megabytes.

The game is not out for PS3 yet, but for high end PCs, the graphics already seem obsolete. I think it is just a matter of providing the option to users to crank up their texture details more.

There are too many blurry textures on objects in the distance.

32X / 64X CSAA. Can I have it?

I believe that has to do with having depth of field turned on. I've noticed a few times that background objects don't really transition from "far enough to be blurry" to "close enough to be clear." It's just a hard line. Turn off depth of field and it should make far away textures look better.

Actually from the looks of those screenshots, he has Depth off. I'm in the same boat as the OP with the exception of a much wider resolution, so I also get another barrel of issues if I have the camera zoomed out, such as textures disappearing as I run past.

simple question. how do i take screenshots? and where are they stored?

fairly sure my graphics look a lot clearer than that even at distance. but if possible id like to pin up some shots for comparison. then people with better sight than me can compare. (gtx460 2gig by the way).

but still can fairly safely say that increasing graphics is quite low on se's to do list. but simply knowing how to make screenshots would be nice.

I don't seem to have that problem, or at least it is very infrequent for me. With everything at max settings, the terrain and landscapes look beautiful. I've noticed a handful of times where what you are showing happens, but usually it seems more like a graphics glitch than anything since if I move around it usually goes away. I'm going to wager a guess that perhaps the texture map for that particular building you are looking at might have been sized improperly, or instead of set as a cylinder was set to a different object, thus causing the problem.

theres somethign wrong with your viewing distance setting, it looks like the texturing slightly beyond the nearest surface of the cylinder is in extremely low detail.
this isnt how mine displays
id suggest playing around with the 2 new settings i nthe config since november patch.

This is not the only problem some people are having.

For example, the night sky doesn't move smoothly, but like the pointer of a clock. It's not the case for everyone, but for me it is. I also see the same kind of low quality textures on nearby objects.

I think they still need to improve the engine quite a bit.
We really want to compete against World of Warcraft and for example the new Star Wars MMO.

Scroll Lock + Print Screen, the ss stored under C:\Users\****\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\screenshots.

MSAA has the most clear,3D,and sharp textures in FFXIV
I like MSAA over all other AA

The entire engine is in desperate need of optimization (and proper SLI support...) but yes, this is definitely part of it. I'm sure nothing will happen for another six months while S-E is freaking out over the fact that there is zero content in the game (rightly so).

My game looks exactly the same OP, with everything Maxed and DoF/AO off. The 2 new settings (General/Background Drawing) have no affect on this issue. DoF is the only one that does AFAIK. I've taken linkshell members (who claimed to NOT notice any problems) to a certain spot and shown them a wall or object, and they changed their tune.
