To ppl expecting content: read the announcement on login screen. A whole team was restaffed only recently so the plans and direction of content has shifted momentum. Starting over on a new direction makes it take longer to release something.

To ppl wanting more sp: it's been a short time since game release and many people are already close to rank 50 on at least one class. Asking for sp freebies dilutes the value of levels and the sense of accomplishment. Some games have 130 levels and do 3 million damage. Big numbers are tiresome to see. It's funny how FFXI players cried all day about how they can't do anything alone and now same ppl cry about doing everything alone. Such fickle fanbase. :[

I'm not one to defend SE for no reason because they raeped my wallet holes many times but this time they deserve a little credit. So far everything that annoyed me one week is fixed the next week. That's faster than it takes for some things to ship by mail. It's record breaking speed even, compared to their history of slow-motion-matrix-style development.

Lots of things looking very good indeed, but PLEASE SQUEENIX 2 retainers for everyone ? So we double the problem ?

Lets stop talking about penalties for retainers selling inappropriate stuff, just make it impossible. No more mole meat in the battle ward, only items that should be there would make me tend to believe that the wards are actually a viable option.

Only 1 problem with this. If you are anything like me then you are developing 6 crafts as well amassing items form drops. If this were imposed then I would need more then the 2 retainers I now get.

The "seeking repairs" symbol, the double weakened penalty and the cactuar thousand needles fix especially!

umm...someone help me? I don't understand exactly the thousand needles ability fix.
Older - everyone, who is hit, take the same max. damage
Now: The damage is distributed. OK, i understand. But "in proportion to the number of party members hit". errr...Sorry?
SO, if we form a group of three, and take a hit from a cactuar (1000 damage), and just 2 of the group been hit, they take 500 damage? So the damage is distributed AFTER the hit?
Weird.

I agree with you there. The world just feels so empty still and no encouragement from SE to group and socialize.

I HIGHLY agree with you. Seriously, this game is still very incomplete!

There will be one final patch before the year is out. I will stay as long as they are going to fix things now that they have a new producer and it is free. I will NOT be staying on to pay for this game in this broken state.

D'oh, first post, meant to quote someone who was referring to poor sp in parties since the update which bring players to solo leves and behest...

Does anyone else fear that this may bring a whole bunch of "high-level-under-skilled-players" who have never partied before and who have no clue of the clear role of a specific class?
End-game activities will be a mess (granted that they implement it anytime soon) until people know how to party, and you need incentives to force people to party, not to discourage them.

Time to bring back exp-chains? or something analogous?

This is a failure to provide what was promised.

Aaaand I challenge you to find the source for this "promise", because I can assure you there was no such thing.

Item Search Feature was promised to be implemented in the November & December updates. I am sure it will be.

"For our next step, we plan on introducing additional features to make navigating the Markets even easier. These include the implementation of a search feature that will not only help players locate items in a Market district, but then display an icon next to the retainers who have those items, reducing the hassle of having to look through the inventories of retainers who may not have what a player seeks."

This was from the b10/15/10 post on Lodestone; long before they decided to add a 2nd update to Dec.

I've long since given up holding SE to their promises. It kinda looks though like the second december update is just the other half of what Dec update was said to be back when they announced them.

I think the market wards is getting worse by every update... lol (just bring on the AH already!)

I'm quite happy about the seeking repairs ward and that it's last on the list means it shouldn't be full of wrong retainers.

You know what would be nice in a future update?

Retainers automatically going to the correct ward depending on their wares that are set for sale. Instead of the players deciding where the retainers should set up shop (because lets face it, there are always going to be people who do not adhere to the market wards), let the items they are selling decide where the retainers go.

The decision to set up shop in a particular ward could be made either by the number of items to sell or by the total value of items within the same category.

Example:

Retainer has 4 thaumaturge weapons with a total value of 250,000 gil and 6 full stacks of 9999 shards totaling <insert some abnormally large number of gil here>.
Since the total value of shards out value the total value of thaumaturge weapons, the retainer would end up in a ward where crystals and shards are sold.

However, once the shards have been sold or it gets to a point where the value of the shards is less than that of the thaumaturge weapons, the retainer automatically move to the spell craft ward.

dudz that really good idea!

+1

The things made FF14 suck! its force player not to PLAY!

1 Anima cooldown too long, imagine if you run out of anima at town, you have to run to hunting point for 20+min. Durability force play to go back to town! this force play to craft!
2 Levequest cooldown 1days! wtf! so it like hey we want you to do quest for 1-2 hour then that it! you should stop playing. go out and play something else!

3 Market Ward, such a waste of time to find something you want to buy!

4 Not enough monsters to kill! wtf I kill mobs and it take like 10min to respawns! and i solo 1 huge area, if there is 2 people in the map, there like nothing to kill.

5 more i think you all know.!

I think the reason they do this make thing super slow coz the game is "incomplete" no end game so SE try to delay us as much as possible.

anyway I hope it get better I like ff14 it have the basic but it just missing the fun factor.

Some nice fixes in this update.

But where's the content that was promised? Will we ever get to enter Ishgard? Will we ever get to ride chocobos? Ride on airships? Where are the other jobs? How about all those little towns that have NPCs but no quests or anything? Dungeons? Side quests directly from NPCs?

I haven't played in about 2 months but I try to keep up with the latest news in hopes that the game will become fun to play eventually. If they didn't extend the free trial, I would be canceling my account even with this update. I guess they predicted most people would and that's why they extended it indefinitely.

Here's to hoping that 2011 brings some real, meaty content...

"shouldnt be full of"
but no one follows the guidlines of where to place retainers though...

there are really only two wards, magic ward and melee ward, the others are 99% empty at all times.

Ok so Starlight Celebration wasnt as good as I had hoped. I mean the snow didnt even stay on the ground. But I can live with that.

As for the update. After playing, some changes are useful, some are meh. Looking forward to some more in the next patch.

And just cause I got a screenshot that seemed like it should go on an xmas card (I hope the link works):

[edit]In addition, I must say, repairing has become much better. It now highlights items that require repair. Makes things much more convenient.
