South of camp crimson bark up on the raised path. There's a few camps of this mob usually with an anole in the clearing. Level rage 50-54? Very red to 38 archer. I did manage to kill one but it hits for 780. I'm on Rabidnasty so I'll prob see you if you head to this one soon. Also as a side note it seems to share spawn with said Anole.

We call that an Anole here. This game has raptors too.

I was in KRT once, waiting for some friends, so I sat down near one of the entrances to the underground. A Goblin Thug aggros me just because I was sitting, apparently not realizing I'm a level 75 PLD. It proceeds to miss me EIGHT times before I stand up and one-shot it.

Goblim headhunters can be found in The Five Hangs in The Black Shroud. They also do not aggro. After you cross a bridge, there are at least 10 of them walking around. My friend got in a party and attempted to kill a Bouncer in La Noscea, and its bomb toss did 3k damage and wiped the party. I kinda wish they hadn't made goblins all such high levels. Same with the other beastmen.

A lot actually. It looks good enough for me. I'd rather have what performance I can get out of my aging rig.

NM's not listed? Now that is news. Did you get some screens?

Also I updated goblin headman with one of my low res screenies for those interested in that one. Is the easiest to get to by five hangs. Bunch of them too.

Goblin thugs are around level 35, and they can be found in Nananwa Mines, Cassiopeia Hollow, and the Mun Tuy Cellars, as well as in Eastern Coerthas. I haven't confirmed this yet, but if you are in one of those areas and see a gobby let us know.

Ahh, smells like nostalgia. Now it feels a lot more like Final Fantasy, and the little guys are as adorable as ever. Say what you want about them, but with their little masks and ears they're kinda cute. It's like having a little lost puppy follow you around.

...almost too cute to beat up really. Almost.

I'm glad they look the same. I think the goblins in XI were the most interesting monster in the game. The other three beastmen races were good but goblins made it awesome, plus a lot of my favorite cut scenes in XI had goblins in them.

They look the same because they are the same, they took the old models from FFXI and slightly reskinned them. Cheap, easy and quick...was anything else expected? The players of this game are very easy to please(whats left of them)so why try harder? The game also isnt making any money nor will it anytime soon so having a proper update system with new monsters being designed etc is something to be kept at a minimum(and those that are new will the kind of stuff that is easy to shove out, nothing special), they have to try put out cheap content.

Ever thought that Goblins are MASCOTS for the FF online franchise?
You don't change the appearance of mascots...they are what they are and its meant to be that way.
How would you feel when Ronald McDonald would look like a thug all of a sudden with a bottle of beer in his hand?

If SE implements Mandragoras in FFXIV as well they HOPEFULLY will look the same as in FFXI, cause thats what the fans want!

Raptors are mascots too? those models were ripped from FFXI too with simple reskins. Goblins are not mascots of the series anyway, they were simply mobs from XI. Chocobo's and moogles are the mascots.

Goblins were put in because most people hate the game and they are reaching at straws to try bring people to like it from the success of XI, they will add slutty mithra fan service leveling companions next.....oh wait.

Hurrdurr though. There's no arguing with you zealots.

OMG...don't you understand they did not change them on purpose? Is it that hard to understand that SE wants add some more life to game by adding some mobs most all of us miss? Yea...they could changed the gobbies...turned them into "New Coke"....but no...they did the right thing by keeping it real.

Goblins are different this time around, same style and all, but you might as well say that flans are the same as before. They are different and if I was premium I'd post SS side by side. Though this arguement is kinda funny in retrospect to last week for sure, considering I posted in the 'where's my gobbies' thread too.

To people saying that the monsters are "simple reskins," you should really just look at the models, which are obviously much smother, more detailed, and redone for FFXIV.

Do the monsters look the same? Yes, but it is meant to be that way.

It's like saying Cloud in Advent Children is a "simple reskin" of Cloud in FF7. ~_~

If you really read up on the gobbie story both here and in XI it is feasible that they ARE the same goblins. How they get form one to the other I dunno but the story fits both ways on the goblins actually moving from one "world" to the other. Queue the storyhound to point out the 17 reasons why this didn't happen~~~Ready~~~ Set~~~ GO!

The way this is done it seems to actually be the same planet to me. I see it as a feasible link anyways. Maybe a stretch here and there... Overall tho... Same mobs same races nomadic goblins that have left and come back... Interesting.

Speaking of grabbing at straws...

Anyway, Goblins have become iconic in the series just like Summons which if you don't remember didn't exist even in the original game, yet goblins appeared in **** well all FF games, Moogles didn't even appear in the first game.

Yes it's models from FFXI, yes it's a crime against (insert your higher power) for them to do so and yes you're trying too hard to justify everything they do as a "fix" to the game even if it's nothing in regards to mechanical fixes.

While it wouldn't be a matter of "copy and paste", recycling the assets is actually quite easy. Even you could extract the geometry and textures then repurpose them in your game engine of choice. They obviously wouldn't have to extract it since it would already exist in whatever 3D software they used to create it.

Given the similarity between the XI goblins to the XIV ones, it would be odd if that wasn't what happened... with some tweaks and upgrades, of course.

Regardless of how they were implemented, I welcome our familiar beastmen kin. Feels like family.
