One would expect the open NMs to be a bit easier than the leve NMs since the open NMs are random and taken down by unorganized pick-up groups...where leves are most often in groups who know each other.

Baby steps...but I think SE is headed in the right direction.

It's nice hearing that people are actually doing things together and are somewhat excited about it.

Has anyone gotten anything to drop from these zerg fights? I wonder if maybe Rinsui was on to something above, and maybe a more balanced, smaller group would have better luck obtaining drops.

Ill laugh if it's as I expect and they actually have no worthwhile drops. RMT will camp them if they did!

I'd be very happy with a variety of levels for NMs, ala FFXI. Not everyone is close to 50, nor will be for awhile.

I liked it when they added those NM's that dropped Rare/Ex items that were not too shabby for their level. I could get behind this Smiley: thumbsup

HNM's have their place, but by no means are the sole content that attract a large player base. I'm looking forward to NM's ranging from the difficulty of Spiney Spipi up to, and beyond the difficulty of Tiamat.

Some of my best memories of ffxi were the first weeks I played spending hours camping Spipi trying to be the coolest lvl 10 mage on the block with my Silk Mist Cape.

Exactly. There was this challenge to reach some specific levels to obtain cool new gear or to try to solo NMs as soon as possible. Then I would fail, get a level more and retry.

Normal NMs are meant to provide short scale objectives to different groups of people at different levels.

Get over it. It isn't preventing you from enjoying the game, that would by your poor attitude. There are plenty of difficult monsters in this game, if that is what you are looking for. Would you rather have SE put in a NM that was so difficult that it was almost unbeatable? What is the point of that. They put an NM in that is accessible and beatable. Maybe it is lvl 40 or 45, and these players were just higher than it was, meaning that for the majority of players (who aren't that high) it might be possible to beat it if they used a strategy, but since these players are relatively high, they did it with relative ease.
