sorry if someone said the same thing already but: you guys realize that wearing level 30 armor at level 10 is a waste of a lot of money? saying that it makes no difference is a little presumptuous because armor breaks faster if you don't use them in the right context.

As far as Conjurer goes - there are milestone abilities I want (Raise, I'm looking at you)

Of course, it will probably be underwhelming because there's real death penalty; at it's best, raise just saves someone a few minutes of walking back to camp.

Agree with the OP as well. The few times I've convinced my self to log in, I've only been able to "enjoy" my time for a few minutes. Usually it goes something like:

- Log in where I've logged out for the past 3-4 times.
- Hmmm guess I'll fish some more. Proceed to fish for a few minutes.
- Ok I guess I'll go to town to see what's going on. *Think to myself for a few seconds*... wait there probably is nothing because there's nothing aside from leves implemented in this game yet.
- Log out.

Seriously. You may be asking, why not go do some leves? Well, because I've done them. Many times over. And even if I did for 5700th time... why am I doing it? What reason is there for me to want that next level?

To add salt to the wound, SE's first content patch was one containing entirely of NMs. This isn't what I consider content. It's a ******* contest for the 1/2% of the hardcore players.

It's like they're making a conscious decision to leave out the good parts of FFXI and reimplement all the bad ones.

If the WS's were better, and if the abilities were cooler, there would be much more to look forward too. As for armor be useable at any level, I guess that is true, but I only wear the armor that gives me the best stats, so I don't just put on lvl 50 stuff. I still get the "I'm so close to X weapon and Y armor" buzz, but for me, that alone is not enough, especially when getting levels is boring, slow, and done by myself.

Check inventory

Cool, I can see my durability now as a percentage

Spend 5 minutes checking new UI features

Think about leveling DoW class

Sigh when I think about doing the same leves for the 60th time

Get depressed because SP party grinding is broken if you like compelling and riveting party play

Look at the sky, nice graphics

1. Think about why I would want to login, oh ya to exp.

2. Think about why I would want exp, hmm I'll be wearing the same armor for 11 more ranks... No cool abilities, no quests I can attempt at reaching the required login.

3. Don't login.

Implement a party system like FFXI. I don't mind if I have to grind for hours to get a level as long as I am having fun doing it. And by having fun I mean grouping with other people and feeling that I am actually contributing to the party's success. The solo option is nice, and definitely needed, but players who are willing to group up should be rewarded substantially. After the UI, I believe that this is one of the most crippling aspects of FFXIV - players just stop caring after a while if all they do is solo or if they notice that they can just zerg down easy prey after easy prey for quick exp. There is no challenge and there is no fun.

The updates for early 2011 look really nice and I for one can't wait for Ishguard to open up or chocobos and airships to be implemented; but before all that extra content SE needs to address this core issue. I hope that SE realizes that by trying to cater too much to the "solo casual player" they have damned their game to both casuals and hardcores. The change in the way SP was gained was a big step in the right direction. One can only hope that changes in party mechanics are soon to follow.

All I see in this game right now is people crafting or doing leves in between Behests... was this what SE intended?

Where I'm camping sometimes that walk isn't exactly friendly (or one you make weakened).

Raise <Yes, please.>

It's really the only spell on the Conjurer chart that I don't have that I even care about, though. I'm about to get Burn 2, Frost 2, etc 2 - and I'm like "Well gee, I used Burn all of 1x so far. CANT WAIT FOR BURN 2!"

Maybe on those new (H)NM damage over time will become effect or viable, but DOT is silly. Even equipping Poisona or Paralyna is ridiculous right now. Those things last about as long as my recast timer (5 seconds) so who gives a crap.

I assume, in time, these spells may have uses - at bosses or harder creatures that don't die near-instantly. Right now, though, my entire spell list is lacking. I hardly even buff unless I'm doing 5-Star leves.

i honestly wish they made ffxiv with the same mechanics of 11 but with a new storyline and

new zones, this game gave me no incentive to rank up from the day it was released and on

top of that, its just a weird game in general... for example the rank vs physical level is

just added problems it would have been easier with a straight up level and now its to the

point where ppl dont even want to log in cuz there isnt a point, theres nothing that gives

me pleasure in playing the game

I know this has probably been pointed out already, but isn't the absence of an abnormal urge to play the game for extended periods of time repeating the same action over and over(grind) a good thing? It allows me to manage my time much more efficiently when I don't end up spending 6 hours doing the same thing over and over and over and over like some sad perversion of the Energizer Bunny.

I'm sorry, I for one, do NOT miss waiting 5 hours to be accepted into a party (or trying to build one).

Always funny to me when people say these kinda things. Like the "opposition" does miss waiting for 5 hours (or whatever arbitrary number is thrown out) rather then making the point of wanting a system that rewards and scales progression accordingly by working and giving us a reason to party in general.

Sometimes its implied. Which blows my mind because thats just crazy.

So today was the first time i've logged in for a week or 2, i wasn't on for long.... I figured if i had given it time
the game wouldn't seem so repetitive, i was wrong.

All i know is i had 200days of playtime on ffxi and i would still be playing if my character hadn't been hacked, but this game id say i have 15 days tops.... something is seriously missing. Is it the same old non rewarding 10 hour grind sessions just to get 1 level at mid rank or is it the unfinished battle system, any ideas people?

I haven't got much urge to grind either, basicly because leveling itself has so little rewards. Like some people already pointed out in FFXI there where these milestones when hitting a certain level. Starting a certain quest, being able to wear that new gear, start your af, being able to move to a new area and new mobs etc etc.

It's not even the gear issue that many people bring up. I myself was so thick to use a hauby and a iron lance from level 23 on. But every time I leveld I wrote down my stats. And now I won't be wearing gear sooner anymore. The defense stats seem to give a low penalty when wearing gear earlier. But attack stats for weapons above your level give a huge penalty. One level ( on the top of my haed 26-27 ) I went from 83 attack to 103, huge I would say.

But check out the weapon attacks you get on lancer for example. from 22 to 30 I don't see a single one remotely worthwhile obtaining. Im stuck with 28K lancer guildlevel marks and the first remotely interesting attack you can buy with those is level 40.

So yeah SE doesn't really give me much incentive to level. Basicly every level between 27 and 35 I'll be doing the same leve's in the same zones only with harder settings.

Grinding is a teadious and annoying thing to do and if there no rewards for it.......

This was posted in The Willing to Pay thread which died out. So I thought I'd post it here. These are so general reasons I don't have the urge to grind, heck a lot of times just to log in.

I'd be willing to pay when there is an AH or a /sea all wards for what I want. Things are still all wonky and a time sync, side quests (give me something to do between 10 level gaps and give all those NPC's something to do besides create lag because of loading them. They gotta be bored to death anyway as well.)

Fix the party recruitment system that people can and will use. In it's current state, it may work, but people don't/won't use it. Becomes a time sync to figure out and use.

A party flag and levels. I liked the way I could see /sea all level and the world, w/e in Final Fantasy 11. So many easy ways to search for things but here it's clunky. Fix what is here, refine it.

A mailbox (please!)

An AH (please!

I'd love a pet job.

I'm a casual player, hense I solo. Once I hit 20 solo'ing became difficult. This trickles down to the party seeking system that is in game now. I can't find a people to level with.

Also adjust the amount of SP. For groups, those that are mostly LS driven, it maybe fine. However for solo'ing it's a lot different.

I miss the feel of community. Final Fantasy 11 had this feel. I believe it came from the party interracting and making new friends as you grind up the levels (ranks) together. I wanted to log in to see my friends and play second a lot of the time.

Not everyone is in an LS for different reasons:
1. Many LS's started out of beta or right out of release. (I started playing during closed beta and the "beat the crowd LS's started forming.)

2. Can't find one for lack of community.

3. People choose not to be in an LS but still want the feel of community.

Right now, espeacially for lower levels, it's guild leaves that reset every 36 hours with the same content. Difficult to create parties of same levels. People are jumping all over the world doing leaves so it's difficult to recruit for parties. SP's and mobs not equalling out as you climb in rank. Killing the same mob over and over for lower SP for hours isn't fun solo.

SE said they wanted a solo friendly game, well please work on that after Rank 20. I've read that after hitting level 20 that solo'ing gets much tougher. Well I believe it.

I am happy with most of the improvements, especially UI. Beta was so bad. This is getting better. I do keep playing and I do enjoy the game. I just think lack of content and way too many NPC's just blindly sitting there is non productive as well.
