Opinions about free PvP..Follow

@Inboundwar

First off, thank you for respecting that. I only use the rating when needed or when I feel a post is just trolling. I may have used it instead of replying a few times, but I've tried to work on that. Now, again it wasn't my intention to tell you if you want PvP to just leave or quit, just that I wish people who want it so badly would stop putting it on a pedestal as if it's the very thing that creates a perfect MMO. I generally do not like PvP in any form, but as long as it's purely optional and out of the way I'll accept it in any game. Like I had said about WoW before, PvP is somewhat one of the reasons I just couldn't play. I strictly refused to play on any of the servers some of my co-workers were playing on since they were PvP. I hated the idea of just going out, exploring, and then having some ******* come up and kill me because he felt like it. What I would support is a system for example where you could watch two people face off in the coliseum and maybe even bet on it or purely spectate.

Like another poster said however, the issue at hand with PvP in this game is the whole current battle system may need to be reworked. I don't think fast-action PvP (Based on the system SE was trying to go for here.) would be very supportive of one-on-one or multiple-on-multiple duels. Archers for example are very overpowered right now. And I for one hate to admit this since my primary role is an Archer. Sooner or later SE's gonna hit them with the nerf bat but longer they put it off the better for me, hehe... But yea, as long as it's purely optional and there's not really PvP going on in the fields or anywhere where it can be troublesome for others I'd accept that.

people just keep arguing about this.
i dont understand it.

have a option to choose to fight or not in open world PvP

problem solved. it wont ruin your precious quest/mission, and some people will enjoy it, and it gives something extra to do in a game when there isnt..

say you bought a house.
the dealer says too you, you can have EVERYTHING in this house for $150,000.
or you can have the house empty for $150,000

would you honestly say empty? well this is the same case, why have something less in a game, that you could eventually enjoy or use, & if you don't enjoy or use it, then it doesnt effect you..

It's been tried before. Multiple exploits have been found to either trick or force someone into pvp combat in all the games that have tried "consensual open world pvp" Half of the games people actually hacked through to attack people who were not flagged as pvp targets. Your precious PvP will be in the air and on the sea. Get used to that idea.

There are some ways to avoid grieving..
1- Possibility to turn on and off open field PvP.. when turned off you cannot be attacked or attack others.. if under attack or engaged in PvP combat you wouldn't be able to turn it off..
2- Duel system.. make it so that a duel or party duel can be proposed by one to another in a battle without death effects..

On a side note.. Ballista was fun.. and I think it should be reintegrated..

Especially that trick where you yourself unflag for PvP, yet you can kill people ftw, any people, ftw. No thanks.

Personally I enjoy PvP in games where it can be balanced and implmented in a fair and non detrimental way. Open world ganking just sucks for the many reasons alredy mentioned.

I also do not think PvP will work either in the FF world. The classes are too different, damage dealers would excel especially ranged dd and mages.

Bind > flare - roast noob - not fun

And I don't understand this, what's so bad about having specific places you can PvP in? I wasn't aware of it but apparently there will be PvP in the game after all. Will I quit? No. Why won't I? Because it's not in an area I have to deal with. It's been shown in other MMOs, with open-world PvP you're gonna have deal with people who purposely grief others. And by the way your analogy there is incorrect. Try it this way...

You're building a house. The contractor says you can either have a fireplace added in and pay this fee to build it, or don't have it added in and pay the same fee. And to make it fair, you're in a climate that doesn't particularly benefit with a fireplace, but would be nicer to have for colder nights.

That would probably work better. PvP won't really make or break a game, however how it is added and how heavily oriented it is can. So using the above comparison, having a quaint fireplace would be useful for if you wanted to have a small fire to keep warm by... But having a massive fireplace that takes up nearly an entire wall can hinder the functionality of the rest of your room. That's how PvP would work, in a small setting such as specific areas you can PvP in, people get their thirst for PvP and those who don't want to deal with it, don't have to. But in an open style setting those who DON'T want to deal with it are more or less forced to.
