My game crashed in the middle of the night while vending, and when I came back, all my macros were gone. I've tried restarting my game, restarting my computer, etc.

Make a backup of your macros. I just lost ~40-50 of them!

Your macro file is in: C:\Users\Meowshi\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV\user\0182C35B\ (The folder not 0000000) in a file called mcr0. Just copy paste it (so you'll have mcr0 and mcr0 - Copy)

Of course, Meowshi would be your login user name.

Yeah I learned to back em up because the same thing happens in XI if you D/C before the server completely saves them.

This sounds like a simple fix for them.
The programmer should write the macros to a temp file, then when the write is successful, copy it across as an atomic operation.
That way, any failure in the write process, at least leaves you the macros pre-changes.
Surely this is an elementary programming technique?

They got any job vacancies going .....?

The way it works is

Macros are completely client side.

You go to Configuration --> Macros, as soon as you're done, it updates the client file.

No server side at all. If you go on a new computer, all your macros are gone.

And for some reason, my computer decided to overwrite my macro file with a completely blank set of files (Or it flat out deleted it and remade it as a blank one)
