Are there any Free Trials for this game? If not, do you think it would be a good idea for SE to put a free trial (10 Day's) to allow people to come back or even try from scratch the game, now that it has been "Buffed" up a bit ?

I think it's a great idea, but if I were SE (oh if I were) I'd put it off until I had this whole "Company" thing to show off. It seems like it will be integral to the game and everyone is interested in how it's going to turn out.

I'd prob offer my free day trials with that content update and onward.

I think they also need to have whatever "updated plan" they're going to come up with as they indicated in their changing of the guard post. I want to know what director Yoshida has in mind to whip this game into shape. That news may also impact how many people sign up for 10 free days.

Also keep in mind what can you do in 10 days? You can low-level (not reach a lot of quests) and test out the UI and everything you heard (or experienced) was terrible. I think an announced plan or some interesting content like Companies would be needed to really hook everyone who may have previously given up or passed by XIV.

My opinion is that is a win/win for SE, even tho sure, what content is there really for low level's ? Well i been under the impression that even tho there are not "Tons" of content, Story quest are 5 level's apart, leave's are from the get go, the craft system is open, and in 10 day's well most people would get to lvl 20 really, at that point i would expect there to be more content <.<

The thing is there where and are a lot of people that just quit at release because of the horrible UI lag/design, etc etc. Now that this has been put past behind, even tho there is really not content up till level 40+ people that would be willing to grind up to that point would sub again for the game, and SE needs all the subs it can get at this point.

I think that 2 full keys for ~$40 isn't bad, if you have a friend/significant other who want to try it out. Especially as SE won't be charging for the game for a while.

(price from local wal mart, results may very)
Edit:(2nd key is the buddy pass, included with most retail purchases, check box before buying)

Yeah, some of my RL friends are included in that category - and when they quit I asked them for a list of things they'd like to see fixed before giving it another go. All but 1 of those things (forget which without checking the list) have been fixed (not even promised, but actually fixed!) and I told them, but they're still giving me the "Well we bought Cataclysm now so we'll come back when we're bored of this content."

I think for them in particular (which is who I had in mind when I answered) It's going to take something bigger than promises & plans (though I think that will help a lot of other people decide to try again).

I sadly think the UI did push people away, but to bring them back might take just a bit more than "Sorry everything was shoddy. It's good now." Something shiny like "Look how cool company ships are! Don't you want one?"

I agree it's a win/win, but timing (as they say) is everything and I (for example) am not going to bother trying to peer pressure my friends (allegedly enjoying Cataclysm) until there's something MORE for them to enjoy in XIV than less lag and a sort feature.

I'm not trying to shoot you down at all, either. Please don't take it that way.
