Battle Regimens: Really good?Follow

Yesterday, I was grinding with a conjurer and gladiator (So GLA/CON/LNC) on some diremites and whatever else we found at The Footfalls.

During our session we decided to try out battle regimens. I figured, why not, it's something to break the tedium.

This is purely observational analysis, but:

When all three of us hit, sometimes our damage would triple.

My 3k doomspike 2 + fercoity hawk eye raging strike would do ~500-600 damage normally. When we battle regimen, I hit 1.3k. Not all the time (even when we all hit), but sometimes. Our conjurer was using profundity 2 bloodrite drowned water 2. She hit for 1.7k on one occasion (Same occasion I hit for 1.3k).

Normally, we could NEVER do that type of damage. Could Battle Regimens be a lot more powerful than we think they are?

nah, they are exactly as powerful as intended, just nobody cares to do them.

It can be our little secret.

I dont think SE wanted to admit they were broken from the begining. In one of the latest patches, they ninja fixed em. The other night we had a group and were doing multiple BR's. Sometime even including 4 ppl into it. We were close to 1-shotting crabs and killing buzzards with a single BR getting 100SP a kill really fast.

The debuff works. For us, it was the debuff + Massive damage increase.

Were you able to one shot crabs without battle regimens, or even come close?

From memory, they were fixed as of the Nov. 25th Patch.

I meant to reply when this was new...

Does this affect SP parties at all? I mean...if you're seeing that much of a gain in your damage off just the -DEF BR, how would that look followed up by a WS > WS > Magic BR?

So on a Dark Red - Would the following yield a quick kill? (PT size 5-8)

Tank/Melee DD x3/Healer/Nuker x2/Debuff

- Fight starts with tank establishing some threat
- Debuffer slaps on some debuffs! While DDs get some TP going
- TP is at acceptable levels for WSes from all who would need to whomp-stomp the mob
- BR #1 = -DEF (Melee 1/Tank)
- BR #2 = -MagDEF (Nukers/Debuff)
- BR #3 = WS > WS > Magic
- Pew/Smash/Zap until dead...

Would this kill an IT++ mob (to a group) as quickly as a soloist kills a (high) blues? Also, is SP on Dark Reds at least enough to where a party killing one will get more SP/hr than someone soloing blues?

1. It does not affect party SP, however it greatly increases kill time if you can get it down nicely (Like after someone shouts BR Normal, you do Normal Normal Dart. After someone says BR Nuke, you do WS WS Nuke. That sort of thing with no stamina downtime)

In the beginning, you're probably going to want to use Normal Normal Spell while building TP. Normal Normal Spell = Two debuffs total (Normal-Normal = One, Normal-Spell = the other)

I have heard reports of people from R45-50 killing sundrakes outside of ul'dah for quick 250sp/kill (10 second kills in a 4-5 man party), however when I went there, the fights were much longer and gave me 150SP (I was outside party bonus).

We'll see. I'm playing with BRs a lot more.

So...Light Shot > Heavy Strike > Spirit Dart would do BOTH the -DEF / -MagDEF debuffs!? That's straight up amazing. I think the fix to BRs may open the game up to more group combat than we currently do. If we start figuring out which incapacitations have what effects on certain mobs, this could be an even bigger deal around Rank 25.

I think this game will go the way of FFXIV with group play. From launch, the average level of parties at popular camps dropped by quite a bit to what they currently are. People started playing better and using more of the combat system to kill things that were previously considered too tough/not worth the risk. Hopefully this trend happens in XIV as well :)
