Poor chap .. for the amount of money you paid for this game.. you could've gotten Fallout 3: New Vegas and Dragon Age Ultimate Edition on steam..

Both, imo, are crap...

In my opinion, Final fantasy XIV is the worst mainstream game of the year if not the decade..

I really enjoy this game (as you see from my sig banner), but when exactly did it become mainstream?
Final Fantasy is a mainstream series.

I believe that finding a LS that accepts you is critical. So, a small hoo-rah made about announcing sexuality, I'll explain a little. Eventually you'll get to some point in your LS where the gets to know you and you get to know them. Sexuality will eventually "come out.". I remember on Ragnarok my significant other (now fiancé) would visit after work and I had to log off. I dubbed him "Mr Cleare" ( I was Cleare, Taru F). After immediately being assumed a female I had to state I was ***. No big deal, right? Really, it wasn't. Not in the LS that eventually became my home. By the time you feel comfortable enough to come out to your online family your are at the point of no return. You can chance the reaction or search for a tolerant shell to "be sure." I've found in my years of gaming (btw, I'm 31 and hot, too... Jk) well organized, defined, respected and lasting communities are GLBT friendly.

I just got to say, I like this thread now. This shows that people can actually help one another in enjoying a game still so flawed and user unfriendly, but more importantly someone who hated open beta now is actually trying it out again and seems to be liking it.

*Gasp* Did I just say that.

Final Fantasy MMOs are a niche product, well most pay to play MMOs to be fair(just playing devils advocate)

I think you just amply demonstrated why *** people often feel like they should announce that they're *** up front rather than later on. It's like sending a canary into a coal mine. You say "I'm ***" and wait for some jagoff to launch into a "that's what I hate about ****'s[sic]" speech, and if no one does, then you're probably okay, and if some one does, then you don't waste any time with that group.

Plus, you might not think there's any reason for *** people to announce they're ***, but I don't think there's any reason for you to announce that you're an ignorant ****, but you did it any way.

Best quote ever. Rate up to the max.

Also - if you're heterosexual you don't have to announce it - cause everyone just assumes everyone is.

Unfortunately you're correct here as well, though just like anything else it shouldn't matter. MMOs should be about cooperation and communication...

Sadly Jerry proved that the OP was fully justified (more or less) for their topic in full. I appologize for questioning it and turning this entire thread into a poo storm.

Why are you apologizing? You're not the one that went on a moronic rant and showed his idiocy. You simply stated you didn't understand certain things but in a reasonable fashion like an adult. All I saw was logic from you which is "A-OK" by this *****'s book.

I am having a much better experience this time around. The input lag is much better (still needs a bit more help though), the UI is a much less maddening experience; think being beaten with a salami versus a nightstick.

Honestly (and shockingly for me), the most fun I'm having are my 8 local leves. I am enjoying crafting now where it made me spit nails in OB. And having a great group of people to talk and laugh with never hurts. I just refuse to grind. That is the most efficient way to sour me on a game. So I'm not rushing. Just doing my leves and gaining.

All the game seems to be missing... is the game. :)
