You forgot the part where people such as myself payed 80+ dollars to enjoy a Final Fantasy title.

Persona 4 is THE game Mikhalia described just now.

A game like that is never going to happen with current-gen graphics or the development costs would be insane.

It's a perfect game to me and that includes the ps2 graphics. I wouldn't want it any other way.
But we need to be hush hush about that game or it won't be the hidden gem anymore. Many Atlus published games become cult classics and their price goes through the roof on e-bay. I already bought another disc of P4 if anything should happen to the other disc.

It's THAT good.

Did you like persona 3 better ? just curious

Honestly, I'm really confused by why people are raging over XIV...

First, can I say, if you don't like it, don't play, and don't whine like a little kid that doesn't get a snack on the forums. Hear the same stuff over and over again "XIV sucks" "I don't like the UI" "I whine, I whine". Let it go?

I for one LOVE XIV. I find it fun, immersive, and challenging.

For those of you with all these problems, are you actually playing the game, or just vomiting up what other people are saying? I feel like it's the latter.

And "Copy and Paste terrain"? I again ask my previous question, are you actually playing the game?
I've been ALL over Eorzea and can say that not one place looks the same as the other. I've never noticed this "Copy and Paste terrain" concept you're all whining so much about.

I think places like Wal-Mart or any other general retail stores sell vacuums with which you can purchase to suck all the sand out of your vaginas.

Okay, I'll bite. What specific aspects of FFXIV do you have fun, immersive and challenging and why?

I also love the game and i am having fun,but eorzea is one of the things i really dislike about the game.

Practically no landmarks, and gridania is 95% copy pasted.

EDIT : Drumroll watch this get subdefaulted by 500 sad people with nothing better to do then gang up on me for sport.
People who ***** and moan about ratings tend to get rated down. Why? It's annoying.

It was a jeopardy answer to what Mikhalia was asking for.

I loved 3 to death but they improved everything I didn't even think could be improved in 4.
Besides the plot was just overall a lot more coherent and interesting.

Besides if you don't feel anything for Nanako then you're probably dead inside. Overall I liked all the characters more even though P3 cast is great too.

I'm re-playing p3 on psp now, but p4 is always going to be the game I'll remember even after tens of years have passed.

I feel like I understand people and myself a bit better after playing it o_O

The storytelling of p4 makes Heavy Rain look embarrassing and amateurish. The way the situations manipulate you to feel things through actual gameplay and not cut-scenes pushes the medium forward and makes you see how 2-dimensional other game characters are.

Yes I might sound weird but that game is worth it. There's simply no praise high enough for it.

I'm waiting for p5 but I honestly don't think it'll be able to be better or even equal to p4. I do expect it to be a truly great game though.

Every so often, a thread ends up with me walking away planning to play a game I had never heard of prior to the thread.

This is one of those threads.

I have played every single persona game released and can say this beyond a shadow of a doubt:

They

Are

AWESOME.

On that note, I like how the thread derailed from trollbait into the discussion of what is arguably one of the best single player JRPG series ever made.

Pfft. The Etrian Odyssey series is better. No other series could ever hope to compete with the one that spawned this! (DANGER, EAR WORM)

Of course, I'd probably be saying differently if I could actually FIND any of the Persona games without paying through the nose for them on ebay, but given Atlus' love of not publishing more than half a dozen copies of any given game stateside (I exaggerate, but not by much)...

And yes, I also like the way the thread derailed.

Not to get myself into trouble here, but you CAN emulate PS2 games on PC now... http://pcsx2.net/

I don't know how rare the Persona games are, I've never seen them in shops myself - but ePSXe does allow you to use ISO files.

Just saying.

p.s. Nanako is just cute beyond words. One tiny problem I did have with the game though is that it is very slow in places. But that's only an issue because the rest is so, so awesome.

I fully support off topic derails when they come in the form of awesome game discussion.

Anyone missing the god old days of RPG's when you had to actually think about stuff should play Etrian Odyssey too. I haven't finished it yet myself but it seems to have that "magic" that is missing from all the new games because the difficulty makes you actually care about your progress in the maze.

Has anyone played EO 2 or 3? Just wondering if they are worth buying now for the future as EO 1 is already a pretty hard to find. (but so worth it!)

Oh and that game WILL whoop your *** and you are tempted to crack your DS in two. Remember this is gaming for real men/women/undecided. Not some cakewalk smash-x-until-the-credits-roll-game.

I just heard that Persona 3 is available for PSP. If this is true, perhaps it is a more preferable option to the PS2 version in terms of availability.

My brother played EO2, but I gather that doesn't really help you much. He seemed to like it though.

Never confuse your inference as the listener for an implication of the speaker.

Good games are subjective like good food is subjective. You're not going to seriously tell me that there's not a psychological basis for why pizza is great and lutefisk is revolting. The thing about subjectivity is that, as subjects go, humans actually have a great deal in common.

Yes persona 1 2(The one not released in USA) and 3 came out for the PSP, only 1-2-2.5 share the same storyline/plot, 3 is a stand alone as well as 4 i think(Not a 100% sure)

Another game that you or others might wanna try out is "Infinite Space" for the DS, it's truly a great RPG with it's setting in space. i just finished it and it really impressed me :)

Thanks for the suggestions on great RPGs. I have never played the Persona games but always heard they were good. I think I'll download the 3rd off the playstation store for my PSP, and get the 4th one off Amazon if I like the 3rd one.

I heard Xenogears and Vagrant Story are finally coming to the U.S. Playstation Store. Can't wait!

Always nice to see a discussion on RPG games.
