Happy Holidays, Here is My Wish List!Follow

#1 Dec 23 2010 at 11:19 PM Rating: Excellent
Christmas was supposed to come early this year. That fateful night in September – as I giddily wrote my “Twas the Night Before Eorzea” poem – we waited on pins and needles for the launch of Final Fantasy XIV. Our expectations were sky high as we envisioned venturing into a world even more immersive than Vana’diel.

But when the day came, we got the bunny suit instead of the BB gun.

Now, here we are, with the real Christmas just days away. I’m pleased to say that much has changed in Eorzea since late September. With snow falling in the cities and peaceful, winter music in the air, the game finally feels as it should have on launch day. Still, this isn’t a complete game. The former development team did a great job of giving us a sturdy tree to decorate. Now, we need decorations. We need tinsel, lights, garland and ornaments. It’s time to make this game shine.

So, in the spirit of the holiday season, here is my wish list for Final Fantasy XIV. I understand none of these will be delivered this year, but why not try for an even earlier Christmas in 2011? How about springtime?

Anyway, here is my wish list:

- Random quests and stories, like the Star Onion Brigade.
- Improved durability on items.
- Mid-level content, like Moblin Maze Mongers or Garrison for Final Fantasy XI – things that make for good linkshell events.
- Guild leves that more closely resemble Assault missions from FFXI.
- More notorious monsters, but with a wider range in levels. This includes sharks with lasers mounted on their heads.
- Airships and chocobos – a necessity in Final Fantasy.
- Chocobo raising, and customizable chocobo armor.
- Flying chocobos with jet packs!
- More areas to explore with our new airships and jet-pack chocobos.
- Linkshell companies!
- Have I mentioned that I want more random quests?
- An auction house to work alongside the market wards. Also a stock exchange.
- Retainers smart enough to triple your item's price if it's the only one for sale.
- For the Oregon Ducks to beat Auburn in the BCS Championship Game (my character now has green pants and yellow armor, fwiw).
- A mailbox system, so I can forward holiday gifts to others!
- The ability to switch nations. In the absence of adding more missions, you could at least allow us to experience what the other nations have to offer.
- 1,000,000,000 gil.
- A pony.

Merry Christmas to all, and please... post your own wish lists here! And think BIG!

Although the iambic pentameter is a bit off, well done sir!

edit: yes I realize the song isn't in iambic pentameter format, but I really don't know what other term to use... I ain't no English Lit. student >.<

- Better incentive to party (like you know, actually making an interesting and rewarding party system, with strategy, a bit of role definition and challenge involved, ala FF11 before Toah). Fixing the SP system is included into this. For me it is the most crucial point, now that the UI is usable.
If by PS3 release the combat system is still not fun (right now there is no incentive, and everything is mindless zergfest anyway), I guess GW2, Didi3 or another game will have me, I have a new PC thanks to FF14, better make a good use of it ^^

- More Lore quest please (non-repeatable, interesting, rewarding quest).
I really liked those from FF11

advanced job (should come 1 day)
AF (will most likely come 1 day to FF14)
map (I can remember the ulgerand range map quest, pretty epic).
spells (aspir, sleepga2 ...)
Access to new area (kazham anyone? This quest was both awfully annoying to do and at the same time sooooo rewarding when completed, really great great feeling completing this one, I miss those feelings). arguably this will come when expansions will be released.
random (SOB yes please !)

Please give me back sneak/invisibility, enough mobs to actually warrant exploring with sneak/invi (right now it wouldn't be useful, the landscape is so bare, anyway exploring is useless since there is little to see except more cut/past), enough penalty on death so that we actually care. I wouldn't mind losing a bit of experience on death, but dont touch my SP ! Other way like more gear damage or a random amount of gil (~10k maybe, would go a long way in sucking gil out of the system to get a balanced economy) etc. are welcomed.
don't give me more death penalty if it is not accompanied with sneak/invi and interesting challenges, though. I want the penalty if there is a meaning (exploring, nice BCNM etc.) just penalizing people for nothing isn't fun. Am I the only one thinking the lack of death penalty makes the game much more boring (we zerg everything, no strategy involved because, among other things, there is no penalty for doing so now?). At the same time, right now, with mob one-shotting people left and right, a death penalty would be awful...
The more I think about it, the more the game still really need a lot of balancing. Still enjoying it somewhat so far.

Tick-tack tick-tack

Merry Christmas to everybody :)

For every team that ever plays the Auburn Cheeters to beat them soundly about the head and shoulders. They wouldn't be in the Championship if they only had 11 players on the field at a time. But when they suit up 5 or 6 players in striped black and white jerseys the win.

My retainer to go the ward that sells the most expensive items she has left or the ward for the items she has the most of.
More quests.
BCNM style fights.
Chocobo raising, breeding, racing and digging.
A player house and furniture to put in it.

You know, there is something I actually would like. The maximize button on windowed mode to be enabled. Even if it's just a scaling of the regular resolution, I'd like to have my game as a windowed "full screen".

That's not too much to ask for Christmas, is it?
