FF XIV Crashing In-Game RandomlyFollow

My Final Fantasy XIV keeps crashing randomly while in game. I tried the sound fix that everyone likes and it didn't do a thing (which I figured). This started happening after the major update near the end of this month (December). It just crashes and force closes the game and does not provide any information in regards to why it crashed. I tried full screen and windowed mode. Anyone have any ideas on a fix?

Check this stuff first.

Also make sure your CPU/GPU/PSU aren't overheating due to the load the game puts on them.

Well, yeah I checked the CPU and video on other games (crisis, oblivion, etc.) and no problems running on high on everything. Once again I would like to mention I never had this problem with FF until this recent December update. That should eliminate any doubt of overheating. I'm almost certain it's a software issue, a setting or something. Drivers are up to date as well. Usually if a computer restarts randomly or freezes that would signify overheating. Since the game itself is just force closing and crashing but nothing else is affected then it would have to be software related. I just can't pinpoint the issue...

i also got the issue weeks ago.

look up if you don't have any auto-update like windows, adobe, AV, etc
Put them in manual update.

good luck :)

Check your macros too, If you have stray or missing " that will make your game to crash.

Thanks, I'll check it out tonight to make sure. I appreciate the help. I'll post back on here if for some reason it's still not working.

Whenever FFXIV crashes for me I am getting this in the application event log:

Faulting application name: ffxivgame.exe, version:, time stamp: 0x4d0e4178
Faulting module name: ffxivgame.exe, version:, time stamp: 0x4d0e4178
Exception code: 0xc0000005

I have googled exception code: 0xc0000005

The error 0xC0000005 is generated by an illegal "memory access violation". This can be caused by anything from faulty RAM, an incorrect/corrupt device driver, poorly written/updated software and more commonly under Windows XP Service pack 2, malware/adware installations.

DEP - I have disabled DEP in Win 7 and will see if this helps at all.

you can have this crash error for different reason:

Exception code: 0xc0000005

1) deffect ram (but not accurate)
2) deffect HDD controller (swap your boot drive to another SATA port to check/fix it)
3) deffect HDD

i got a deffect SATA3 controller that make me crash PC with a crucial SSD300, have swapped to SATA2 and works fine, motherboard controller was in cause.

hope this will help

Try this...

In the FFXIV Config program set AA to 4x or 8x.

I would get FF has stopped responding messages all the time then i changed this setting not only did it aleviate alot of visual lag but i have not had that FFXIV has stopped responding error once since then... Knock on wood..

However I have had several new errors with blue popup windows with strings of numbers. But hey at elast im seeing errors now instead of winodows just telling me its sorry it had to close the game.

Disabling DEP did nothing to resolve this, still getting the same exception code when game stops responding.

As I have tested all hardware in my PC and know 100% that there are no faults it leads me to believe that this is being caused by poorly written software.

Do you think we should send these error logs to SE at all?

I have noticed I can go without a crash for hours as long as I do not check the Linkshell Members List or my Friends List. The game will not immediately crash if I open either of these windows however I have observed that after a short while of opening these windows my game is sure to cause some illegal operation and crash. This will usually occur either right in the middle of crafting, starting a leve or loading a cutscene (boat/story/etc).

This may be purely coincidental but this is what I've noticed from my experience.

As of now it seems I got it working. For me I created the exceptions for DEP as I needed. I also adjusted the AA setting before I noticed the new post. So, one of those fixed it for me. In any case, I thank everyone for their help. If it occurs again, expect another post on this thread from me. :D

This fixed my issue. FFXIV was crashing when ever I fought a mob and I did everything including reinstalling the game several times and it happened to be just the macro had an extra space at the end. LMAO.... Thanks
