So I really want to play FFXIV and my computer keeps doing something that is making me made and I can't figure out why. I load up FFXIV and it says "FFXIV has stopped working". I know this computer can run it because I ran it on my laptop (very slowly BUT it ran!). So if y'all can point me in the right direction to join you guys in there I would appreciate it very much.

you're gonna have to give a lot more information than that in order for any of us to try to help you...

especially your computer specs...

System specs and the error code (usually found under a "more information" button) would help in diagnosis.

from that, it looks like the updater is crashing. I personally do not know how to fix that issue.

well also what is the exact name of your intel video card... I'm sure it has model names and numbers...

FFXIV is pretty hardcore graphics... I seriously doubt that an "intel video card" can run it...

which is why I'm still gonna say it's your video card that is crashing the game at launch...

It's probably the reason..

Video Card: Intel(R) G33/G31 (fully updated)

Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5200 @ 2.5GHz

Memory: 3318MB RAM

Directx Version: Directx 11

I think that's everything that matters. >.>

you should know that intel graphics cards aren't designed to handle intense gaming graphics...

radeon and nvidia graphics are...

Looking at the specs of that video chipset, I am pretty sure that it is the problem.

Intel video means it's not actually a video card. It's integrated video. It's not intended for gaming. It's intended to give your system the bare basics so you can plug in a monitor and actually see things. You're going to want to upgrade.

Also directx 11 is missing components of directx 9, when you upgrade your video card you might want to install DX9 just to make sure.

install visual c++ 2005 redistributable from microsoft then 2008 if 2005 didn't work. this is a problem with the first Retail PC version. it mainly affects newer OS that don't have older technologies installed. SUMMARY: Install VC2005!

Just reiterating that an intel video card will not cut it for this game. Get a new video card. Something like a Nvidia GTS 450 runs about $150 and will do the job quite well.

I'm 99% sure it's the video card.

I had the same problem where the computer wasn't recognizing my NVidia Gfx card so I got the same error. I had to install the NVidia drivers and it worked.

Are you sure your computer doesn't have NVidia of ATI gfx card? If not, go buy one and the game will work. Re-installing won't help.
